Sinks in bathrooms were handy when there was only one bathroom and a family of six. Shaving, brushing teeth, washing, doing makeup, washing out nylons, no queues.

There was no fire. I've been through the planning documents and there's no mention of a fire. Planning permission for demolition and a replacement dwelling was granted in 2018 and had lapsed.
The new planning permission granted includes a massive basement and an outdoor swimming pool.

My childhood bedroom had a huge pink sink, it was lovely. Very practical.

My first reaction was also sadness. Seeing someone's pictures on the wall and the bedding they chose etc. I think what must have happened to the woman who made that her home. Presumably the house fire came more recently.

Typical houses in my area with this spec would be looking at 4+ mil so not a bad investment if you’re in the right area!

No roof = no council tax. Also no one will squat.

If you are going to take the roof off wouldn’t you get rid of the furniture.

And why would the estate agent take the photos - it’s utterly pointless. The outside makes sense as you can see the land. The downstairs cloakroom - no!

And if you are going to - then put the seat down!!

I love how it's described as a 'detached house'. They just failed to mention they meant it was detached from its roof and walls.

I suppose it's possible to just put a new roof on it if the building itself is still structurally safe.

Plenty of photos of it from 2015 era here. What a lovely home it was. Hopefully whatever it’s replaced with is equally as characterful and not just a drab box

Roof was removed for a reason

It looks like a Midsummer Murder characters house before. I bet once it's demolished the new house will be all black and grey and look like a bunch of shipping containers joined together.

Their bed was still made up, with their sheets and bedspread. 😔 Whatever happened it seems very tragic, the remains of someone's life and probably once a much loved home. It reminds me of photos of ruins in warzones or around Chernobyl where people left suddenly in the middle of their normal daily life.

Yes, so bats could not nest there and prevent the house being demolished. That doesn't mean there is/was anything wrong with the original house.

if you look through the nice photos a pp posted upthread, they are exactly the same beds in the photos - I believe yes there has been a fire or something like that.

The home is shown in all its love and glory by the pp and now rightmove have the devastating photos online to sell the house. Just awful.
go back and look at the two beds, the four poster one and the one with the headboard. Awful.

Wow so many questions. Why did they bother to take photos of the rooms and how was the agent even allowed to venture up those stairs?
