Mine can’t see colour, but he definitely can see mess. I couldn’t live with someone who did this sort of performative helplessness in order to get a woman to do all the things he doesn’t want to.

If he is otherwise satisfactory I wouldn't worry that much about the toilet rolls, and train him to see crumbs. The bottom step thing I wouldn't be doing anyway - health and safety.

‘Have you looked properly?’ is the term to use, but you have to explain in words of one syllable that ‘properly’ means actually rummaging about in drawer or cupboard.

Meh. I 'cant see' crumbs and stuff either. Cos I can't be arsed. My house is messy. DH and I are pretty evenly matched about it though, and we don't care too much.
