Anyone noticed Dove deodorant?

The smell of the classic deodorant - the one with the blue lid - has altered so it now smells nothing like the soap. And, certainly on me, it's not working as well. Have they had a re-vamp because the lid design has changed? I'm well disappointed and will have to start trialling new deodorants so I can get back to one that actually works. Why do manufacturers do this?

Some Dove deodorants were made in the Ukraine. They have had to resource from elsewhere.

mistermagpie · 28/07/2023 12:53

I was just moaning about this to DH yesterday!

The blue one disappeared for ages from my Tesco and then came back different. I've tried the invisible one and it smells horrible but the 'fresh' one smells quite nice and seems to work like the old blue one.

Oh FFS.

I use the roll on with the blue lid. If they'd changed this I'm going to scream!

i haven't bought any for a while as I'd bought loads when it was on a really good offer.

im on a roll of things I like being discontinued 🥲

They've changed the 'original' with blue lid to a white lid. Don't know if the scent etc has changed, I always used the invisible dry roll on. Which used to have a white lid. 🙄So spent yesterday sniffing myself suspiciously before checking the label. Unfortunately for me the invisible dry roll on seems to no longer exist. Am currently eyeing up overpriced multipacks on Amazon!

Honestly feel like no deodorants work as well anymore

Nightmare isn't it!!

i noticed a little while ago, some of the Original with the blue lids were 48hr. They don't feel the same.

i just like the ordinary, blue lid. Why can't they leave things the fuck alone?

SchoolShenanigans · 28/07/2023 14:10

I've always bought the blue dove cream stick, it works so well that my husband uses it too and nothing else used to work for him.

I noticed boots and superdrug had stopped stocking it for a while so I bought 12 sticks on Amazon.

  1. I agree, doesn't seem to work as well as it used to.

  2. are they phasing it out?

I'll probably true natural ones if I can't get hold of the blue dove in the future.

Rachelhappywalking · 03/09/2023 08:01

Hiya. It has definitely changed. Used to work all the time for me. Now it works for a few hours. But, at the end of the day I smell worse than if I hadn't used it at all. It's rhe blue lid original that I've used for years. Definitely not the 'original' anymore :(

Oblomov23 · 03/09/2023 08:38

I've used Dove invisible Dry for 10+ years but it now smells different and doesn't seem to be working.

Polkadotfleece · 03/09/2023 08:44

Interesting. I noticed I was a bit whiffy this week. Been using dove as I remembered I used to like it. No clean soapy smell either

BindyCeale · 03/09/2023 08:52

I use the blue lid roll on and I too have noticed that it has stopped working for me, i binned it a couple of days ago.

I bought this one and it is very very good. Really woks and smells lovely.

I had forgotten I'd posted on this thread, forgotten about this issue at all (bloody terrible brain fog). I've noticed recently that I'm not as 'fresh' as I have always been. It didn't even click then. I just came across this thread again because it had been posted on.

i must have some of the newer ones mixed in with the older ones 🙇🏻‍♀️

has anyone found anything good (in a roll on)??

isthismylifenow · 03/09/2023 08:53

I'm glad it's not just me!

I assume it's all made elsewhere now as I'm not in the UK and also noticed a difference.

I like the one with the pink cap, also the normal royal blue. I bought 3 as they were on offer, 2 pink and one blue. I have this bloody almighty rash under only one underarm now from the pink one. And it didn't seem to work very well and the scent just isn't the same.

I'm so annoyed, I have been using it for years and years, so it has to have changed. And why only one underarm is baffling me too.

MansfieldLark · 03/09/2023 08:55

I've gone back to using MUM deodorant. It's really cheap and works well.

isthismylifenow · 03/09/2023 08:56

Can someone take a pic of the new can and cap for me please.

The ones I have look the same as my previous ones, so I wondering if we haven't had the new packaging as yet .

MansfieldLark · 03/09/2023 08:57

I think we need to have laws that prevent companies from modifying women’s products without a referendum. I’m mostly kidding, but I do get really angry about this.

OB tampons have again become very difficult to find in my area of US. Last time it was because they had completely shut down their manufacturing facility and didn’t seem to care if that meant we went without. I couldn’t find them anywhere and on eBay they were selling for $26 a package.

If you’ve been a product for decades, what the hell do they expect us to do? I blame men.

All product formulations change regularly, depending on what ingredients are available and at what price. This is constant, across all departments, always has been a and always will be.

Jews know this well, which is why ALL packaged food, cleaning and hygiene/beauty products are reassessed against kosher standards every 6 months

whirlyhead · 03/09/2023 09:01

Dr organic deodorants are excellent - you can buy them in Holland and Barrett’s.

isthismylifenow · 03/09/2023 09:06

These are the ones I bought. But I see they are made locally by Unilever. And they are 150ml cans. Were they not 200ml before?

I only ever use Rollon (sprays make me gag/can't breathe)
Swear by Mitchum triple "odor Defense" (American?)
Currently using the yellow 'pure fresh.' Gorgeous smell.
Usually on a Tesco club card offer or buy one get one free at Superdrug/Boots.
It's Bombproof 🤣

isthismylifenow · 03/09/2023 09:14

Oh, ignore me on the 150ml. I bought the 250ml last time, hence these seeming so small.

thebabessavedme · 28/07/2023 09:20

Yes, I used dove invisible dry for years, then it changed perfume (horrible flowery scent) and gave me a rash. Am using sure at the moment, seems ok. At least no rash!

This!! Well not the rash. Invisible Dry is my favourite and it used to smell amazing 😩
I've been buying up the old stuff on eBay 🤷🏻‍♀️

Go for a cup instead of tampons.

msmonstera · 03/09/2023 10:08

I bought the blue lid one as I used to like it. The smell is different now, kind of chemically. It didn't work very well either. Went back and got the unscented Mitchum.

jallopeno · 03/09/2023 10:14

I'm having to go for a "72" hours one as the others aren't cutting it

MysteryBandit85 · 03/09/2023 10:21

Another one here that has used invisible dry for years. Suddenly new lid design, massive price increase, new unwanted scent and, the worst bit, it just doesn’t seem to work for me anymore as an antiperspirant - seem to get more sweaty with it than without it! So annoying. I have switched to Sure invisible which is ok but not as good as Dove was before :-(
