Is there truth in when someone says something when they're drunk? friend texted me whilst drunk.

Friend is away for a couple of days for a stag do. He doesn't normally drink so guessing not much would render him quite drunk. Last night I received a text at 1am but didn't see it till this morning. It was written terribly with a lot of typos and repeated letters in words so took me a few moments to understand what it said. The coherent version...without some random stuff at the beginning..

"Juyetii, poppy. I miss you. I wish you were here with me. Its so fucking beautiful. So so beautiful. Is it too late to tell you how I feel. You're the one. Let's go back to the beginning. I'm just wasting time. I know it might be complicated but it doesn't matter. it will be okay. I'm too fucking scared to tell you. I wish you feel the same.

I haven't received anything from him yet nor have I replied. I don't know what to make it of it really. Im pretty sure he was drunk when he sent it. Does he actually mean it if he was drunk? Do I bring it up / ignore it?! I've been thinking about it all day!

After a few stiff drinks I think the inhibitions come down and people usually say what they really think and feel.

I think that is true for some drunks, but not all.
I have known some people who tell the most outrageous lies when they are drunk- having a terminal illness type lie.

Though I think the real person shows- liar, softie, argumentative tosser...

okay, so last night after i'd texted him the initial text, we did indeed talk a about car mechanics for awhile! 😂 mot did not go well.

We chatted a bit about his trip. He's having a lovely time. His friends haven't got together for awhile so it's been nice for him. He's in Portugal for those asking. He's sent me photos and yes, it is stunning. They've had a sober day today and went on a boat trip and lunch on an island. They're going home tomorrow. Can't wait to see him! No I won't be meeting him at the airport but that would have been brilliant to the pp who suggested that! Can you imagine, I'd need a boom box in the background playing some soppy song! That would be ace. 😂

Anyway, our texted turned to 'The Text' . the convo went something like...so about that text, just want you to know that I meant it, but sorry, didn't mean to tell you over a text, but fuck it, I'm glad I did. i told him I was sorry that I didn't reply sooner as I didn't know what the heck to do! He thought he'd fucked things up when i didn't reply and was so relieved. He just never told me how he felt as he thought i didn't feel the same / wouldn't want a relationship. I've ranted enough about useless men and how I never want another relationship again after my crappy one last time!

We both agree that we will have a chat when he gets back. I'm in cloud nine and have been smiling all day! 😆 even my work colleagues noticed and why I'm smiling to myself! I must look like an utter weirdo smiling at my desk looking at excel spreadsheets!

he's been sending me sweet, cute messages thoughout the day but I of course didn't reply as I forgot my phone! 🙈
