This was substituted in my shopping for something I would normally put in sandwiches so I used this straight from the pack instead. Ive just seen the ‘cook me please’ on the front 🫣
ive already made my lunch for today and don’t want to throw it! Will it be ok?

How long does it take to cook? Can you quickly cook and chick it back on some bread?

cocunut · 27/07/2023 07:24

It's not even real meat and probably UPF so can't imagine it's any worse raw than cooked

AbsoIutelyLovely · 27/07/2023 07:25

It’s not even food

Janieforever · 27/07/2023 07:25

Honestly I’d not keep eating it raw. They’ve put that on the front for a reason.

BooksAndHooks · 27/07/2023 07:25

I use this cooked but occasionally I do throw it into an uncooked lunch. I know it says cook it but I’ve lived to tell the tale.

ErniesGhostlyGoldTops · 27/07/2023 07:26

I've put some things in my mouth that I have later regretted but nothing would get me to eat that.

To be fair I don't eat bread either though for pretty much the same reason.

bellac11 · 27/07/2023 07:27

Whats it got in it that would do you harm if it wasnt cooked?

Generally it’s not the ingredients as such it’s about propensity to grow harmful bacteria.

This. There's so much processing that it's now going to be harmful in the way that raw meat would be.
I'd imagine that the cooking is to crisp it up / bring out the flavour and make it more bacon-like.

Clymene · 27/07/2023 07:34

It's just soya protein with a load of flavouring. It's not going to hurt you, just be a bit rubbery

Starburstscent · 27/07/2023 07:39

Thanks, cooked meat quality has become awful (sliced ham is fatty and full of gristle) so I added plant based meat to the order. What I can take instead that is nice in a sandwich? Fussy office that won’t tolerate you eating egg / fish etc 🙄

Nothing wrong or smelly about tuna or salmon sandwich

Whats wrong with cheese

Hummous and carrot

Slices of roast beef

shredded chicken that you have cooked yourself

TheYear2000 · 27/07/2023 07:49

Why not get plant based ham if you want it uncooked for sandwiches? I'm quite partial to quorn ham! (And I know it's UPF and don't get it often)

There is everything wrong with tuna sandwiches in an open plan office!

Agree with your other suggestions though. And if you buy more expensive ham it's not fatty or gristly either.

Bit cheeky for a workplace to say you can't eat eggs or fish...two of the healthiest lunch options.

Tribute219 · 27/07/2023 07:53

I definitely would not risk eating it, raw or cooked.

Not cheeky at all - they stink and are pretty unpleasant in an enclosed space!

Lots of offices have similar rules.

spuddel · 27/07/2023 07:56

Doubt it will be harmful as it's mainly rehydrated vegetable protein and I use raw pea protein in shakes. Looks utterly vile and over processed though.

bellac11 · 27/07/2023 07:56

Tuna sandwiches dont smell, you wouldnt even know someones got one, same with salmon

RafaistheKingofClay · 27/07/2023 07:56

It looks like it’s pre cooked so assuming it was vacuum sealed I don’t see it’s any more risk than ham or similar. It’s probably just nicer fried for 5mins before eating.

I disagree. Tuna absolutely does smell!

Tuna definitely smells 😂

Same as boiled eggs 🤢

FrenchandSaunders · 27/07/2023 08:13

What sort of office bans certain sandwiches … weird!

they wouldn’t like me then … reheating the previous evenings curry 🤣

msbevvy · 27/07/2023 08:14

Tuna and salmon stink the place out and the person who ate them can sometimes reek of it for some time afterwards.

Ohhhhhhhhh · 27/07/2023 08:18

I used to eat in my car if I had a smelly lunch....its a good excuse to sit alone and listen to the radio
