It’s only July but I want to talk Cosy Autumn stuff!

I’m sat in my garden (with a break in the rain). I have a hoodie on and a fire going and a good cup of tea. I’ve been looking at making a list of ideas for Christmas gifts and ordered the new school uniform!

Anyone else up for a some pre-autumn cosy/ness? I’m thinking the pumpkin decorated glass mug I saw advertised at The Range is a step too far at this point in time?

Great idea for a thread

I have ordered a couple of cute wee autumn decorations this week 😄

nobodygoesdowninthejungle · 22/07/2023 18:07

I'm currently having a cup of tea and a crumpet and am wearing jeans and a jumper. Whilst I'm enjoying the novelty of this and am delighted that the ridiculous heat of a couple of weeks ago is over, if this weather continues all summer then the winter will seem very long.

SoCentralRain · 22/07/2023 18:10

Blankets? Jumpers? Where are you all? It's raining here but still very muggy (south east).
Roll on Autumn...

SunnieShine · 22/07/2023 18:13

Thank you for starting this thread. 😀🍁 My lovely new autumn-inspired duvet set arrived today, ready for September. And I'm already thinking about hearty stews and curries, not to mention crumbles 😛

@SoCentralRain , I'm in the South East, it's raining and only 15⁰ and not one bit muggy! I've got an Oodie on 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is the thread for me!

I adore autumn and winter. I like late summer too. I dislike March and June intently!

I feel more alive in the autumn, I can't explain it very well but I feel happier, lighter and full of energy. I love everything about Sept to February. Plus, my son was born in December so we now find it doubly exciting!

I can't wait to see that golden afternoon autumn light soon.

Jackydaytona · 22/07/2023 18:21

Hate everything about the summer
Bugs, allergies, fat sweaty men walking around topless, people mowing lawns at 7am (twats) ugh
LOVE LOVE LOVE autumn/winter ❤️
My bday and my dc2 bdays are autumn 🍂
Adore Xmas
Can't wait for the bright, crisp November mornings :)

Zippedydodah · 22/07/2023 18:26

It’s 11-12° here today and I’ve lit the wood burner, I’m wearing socks and a fleece and it’s pissing down.
I hate the heat and dust, much happier when it’s cooler and the air’s fresher.

Cherryblossom6754 · 22/07/2023 18:30

I love Autumn too and love planning for those months! I'm in the mood to do some lists and present planning.

I have lots of Birthdays around the back end of the year too plus dc Birthday.

Will be lighting lots of candles soon!

crochetmonkey74 · 22/07/2023 18:32

Ooh I'm an autumn person so I love this thread

Jackydaytona · 22/07/2023 18:35

Bought a couple of Xmas gifts on amazon Prime day on 11th 😃

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 22/07/2023 18:39

I bought a bikini today.

And a bottle of Alien Goddess (coconuty, salty Jasmin deliciousness).

I’m still prepping for summer! ☀️

CeriB82 · 22/07/2023 19:29

Love autumn and winter!
does have an autumn feel today. Went up snowdon in my waterproofs. Not a lot up there (i only tend to go when its raining and windy cos of the crowds)

i have candles on and under a blanket and a couple of table lamps on. Not lighting the stove though! Im in a cosy cottage and suits this weather.

and I can’t wait till October to put my orange/yellow/brown autumn decorations up!

Jellybabies2 · 22/07/2023 19:33

I find myself looking forward to autumn at the moment. Having a fire with a hot drink and cosy film

bibbityboppityboo · 22/07/2023 19:38

@D20

Definitely worth it!! It's a lovely mug, especially for the price. I've grabbed a few in homesense - tkmaxx too this week, they've got lots of Halloween bits out.

Got the wood burner on here sand thinking about learning to knit socks, difficult I fear.

Check out Winwick Mum for sock patterns and instructions. I learned how to do magic loop from YouTube during lockdown and can now make a pair of socks in about 10 days. I tend to knit socks (and hats and Christmas bits and bobs) during the summer as my usual blanket knitting and crochet is too warm for May to September. Maybe not this year, though.

D20 · 22/07/2023 20:21

I had a lovely hot bath and then some tacos for tea. Snuggled up watching a film with DH now.

Can't wait. Been shopping today with dm and bought a few autumn bits. Need to get to homesense soon.

Also bought first Christmas present today! It's the weather I think, would be happy for a few more weeks of warm sunshine but then I'm ready for full on autumn.

School uniform all bought and ready to be ironed in sept now too.

What's your bedding set like? Can we see?

tinkertots · 22/07/2023 21:24

I went to The Range earlier and picked a lovely new autumnal wreath for the door for autumn and also booked pumpkin picking for October for my two DD's, dh and myself 🎃

Mrsfussypants1 · 22/07/2023 21:33

I do love autumn and winter but I'd like to have a bit more of a summer first. June was lovely, it would be great to have a nice August for the school hols and a sunny September to top it off. School uniform bought except for shoes and bag, panto tickets booked and a couple of christmas/November birthday gifts ticked of my list.

RaininSummer · 22/07/2023 22:17

Too soon for this thinking for me. I love the candles and blanket vibe but I would like some summer first. Still have summer things to do like festivals, weddings and holiday times.

I can't believe people are starting planning Christmas in July. 6 months in advance.

I don’t think it’s really any different from people desperate for some sunshine and complaining about darkness at 4.30pm in the winter. I really don’t like summer at all. Thinking about Christmas is one of the few things that gets me through the summer.
