Food that shouldn’t work but soooooo does

So there is the obvious one, pancakes bacon, maple syrup and blueberries.

Then the classics fruit cake and cheese - if you haven’t tried it you really should.

Peanut butter and apples.

What combination of foods that sound like they won’t go together but really do, do you ike?

Baked beans on toast with Tabasco and salad cream

digestives with blackcurrant jam (needs to be sour) and Stilton or mature cheddar it’s nice with Brie too

Marmite on toast with slices hard boiled egg

i love pineapple with cheese or in a pizza

Marmalade on toast with cheddar or stilton

I used to make marmalade and cheddar sandwiches when I was a teen. Not had one in decades.

Prawns in mayonnaise flavoured with curry powder mixed with melon or apple. Just finished a bowl, delicious.

My dad used to tip a tin of heinz baked beans into chicken soup. It looked something akin to a bowl of lumpy germaline! I never tried it nor had any desire to! God rest his soul, he did make us laugh with his odd ways 🩷

My old favourite- crumpets topped with dry fried with cinnamon powder blueberries and raspberries and a large dollop of thick Greek yoghurt or crème fraiche on top (thanks to hairy bikers for recipe)

@MrsSamR Bananas wrapped in bacon was definitely a 70s thing. I seem to remember it in one of my DM's cookbooks.

My DF often had fried bananas with bacon (separately, not wrapped), I seem to remember it being a thing in some greasy spoon cafes in London too. I guess it's not that different from fried plantain.

The whole seventies thing of sliced bananas with curry was vile too.

Dairylea on rich tea biscuits , I don't know anyone else who does it . The sweet and savoury just hits the spot .
