...can we just talk about how skinny Margot Robbie is?

..first of all, I really appreciate her as an actress and know she is naturally very slim. But seeing the size she is now promoting Barbie and doing all these premieres - she is a lot skinnier than she has been previously.

I don't know why but it doesn't sit comfortably with me. Here is an insanely talented actress who has always been praised for her talent. I've always appreciated that, albeit small, she's always been quite a 'healthy' slim and I've thought she's set a good example to young girls.

But she seems to have dropped weight to become drastically tiny just as she is being glorified as the real life Barbie. And no one's talking about it. Am I the only one whose noticed and who feels weird with it?

Also your arrogance as to deny other posters’ lived experiences because you haven’t experienced them is equally astonishing.

Not equating body shaming to them, but would you also deny sexism, racism or ableism exists were you fortunate enough to have never been subjected to such attitudes?

clouddprocess · 21/07/2023 20:18

You were attacked because you were a student and they were drunk. The skinny quip is by the by.

How would they know she was a student? Just wow @Mirabai you couldn't possibly know unless you were there. I don't see why the quip is 'by the by' either.

Accent, dress, blah blah, student attacks in uni cities is not uncommon.

Yes. But I was there. I was the one attacked. I was the one who listened to the verbal tirade before the physical attack. I was the one they’d targeted. I was the one who went to hospital. I was the one who gave a statement. I was the one who gave evidence in court. I was the one who listened to the defence. And the verdict. Me. Not you. 😂 you’re absolute madness.

clouddprocess · 21/07/2023 20:41

Like I said, you weren't there. @Mirabai

Sorry you had to go through that @Hibiscrubbed

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 21/07/2023 20:52

What? ! She looks normal and healthy, not underweight at all.

Luxpi · 21/07/2023 21:09

I'm surprised mumsnet have allowed this to stay up, it's not really in the spirit is it.

I can well believe it, my friend has received horrific abuse when we have been out, always from overweight women- not a coincidence is it especially when references to weight are made.

You do sound irritating AF to be fair, I suspect you're well in tune with what pisses people off.

I’m in the right place then - a thread full of irritating people.

Thank you @clouddprocess. Bit baffled by that poster’s reaction.

What’s the matter with you?

Seriously? Do you require a minute-by-minute break down of the time I was put in hospital in a violent attack? Do you need to know what they said? Do you also need to hear how I was bullied throughout school for the same things?

Jesus Christ. I never report posters but I’m going to report you.

Mirabai · 21/07/2023 22:03

You’re very lucky you haven’t been reported yourself. Calling people cunts is not ok.

I didn’t call people cunts. I asked them not to be cunts.

Mirabai · 21/07/2023 22:44

Which is calling them cunts.

Give it a rest now @Mirabai You could show a little more sensitivity given the traumatic experience @Hibiscrubbed shared.

Mistymist · 21/07/2023 23:13

As someone who was criticised for being "skinny" by both close family member and random people, I'm going to tell you to stop discussing her weight and other women's weight and mind your business.
There is nothing more annoying than women berating other women for their weight, appearance and life choices.
Get a hobby!

PerspiringElizabeth · 21/07/2023 23:20

Just been to see Barbie movie and there’s literally a line about how in society you’re meant to be thin, but not too thin, and not allowed to talk about it. Which the movie, and everyone in the audience, is obviously against. So it’s hardly that Margot Robbie is promoting extreme skinniness.

Also as I was watching I was thinking about this thread and thinking, I walk Pat people that size every single day. She’s hardly emaciated. I have friends skinnier who are healthy. (Im a size 18 myself not that it matters!)

PerspiringElizabeth · 21/07/2023 23:20

*walk past

xsquared · 21/07/2023 23:21

Why op?

You say you're not skinny shaming her, so what are you doing then?

Best to ignore @Mirabai but I agree with you! It feeds off attention.

LaMaG · 22/07/2023 00:38

Am laughing at the comments saying this thread is shaming MR. There is not one negative comment, everyone is saying how beautiful she is, even those commenting on her weight loss are literally doing just that, commenting on her weight loss not saying she looks bad.

If she is to be criticised I think its for taking such a role and associating herself with this brand and changing her body to conform, all to up make as much $$ as possible.

LaMaG · 22/07/2023 00:39

*make. Not sure what 'up make' means 😁
