NHS, Central London ICU. Finally got a break, coffee and a sarni. It's been a busy night.

storminamooncup · 20/07/2023 03:54

work stress here too. went to bed early as was tired and that probably didn't help either.

namechangedyetagain · 20/07/2023 03:57

I'm now resorting to ocean sounds to try and help me sleep. Such a busy day ahead and I'm going to be shattered for it.

Staplesonstamps · 20/07/2023 03:58

Guilt shame anxiety

the usual

justasmalltownmum · 20/07/2023 03:59

5yo has a hacking, mucus cough and keeps crying. Is also asthmatic so is making me worried it is bronchitis.

DD woke me up going to the loo and saying she feels sick. Again. Then the church bell going every 15mins and my brain not quieting has kept me awake. Have to get up in 2hrs to carry on a trip with 3 arguing, tired DC and play trip director. Grrr

GraysPapaya · 20/07/2023 04:07

They’re loud when they’re low! Dh and I were in the RAF, we’re not far from brize either, luckily not in the flight path and our windows are really good at blocking out noise! So I love a military aircraft, bit of a geek- but not at 3am! They’re probably night flying to get their hours in.

I woke up because my dog did a huge turd in the kitchen, the smell woke me up 🤢 I’m quite far away from the kitchen, the smell was horrific. The smell is now lingering!

Cherrybaby1 · 20/07/2023 04:12

Anxiety about growth scans and being pressured into unwanted induction

DimeStoreHooker · 20/07/2023 04:13

@mumlovesvodka it should be keeping some of your colleagues up, so a few of you will be tired! Coffees ahoy

Greenfishy · 20/07/2023 04:14

@Kabbalah i salute you. Hope it calms down.

im awake for a few reasons tonight. I’m not well. Presumably some sort of viral infection causing a sore throat and aches. Taking ibuprofen earlier helped but it’s also caused me to have acid and I’m now sitting up, feeling like rubbish, and chewing on a gaviscon.

We’ve been away on holiday and the bed was so uncomfy that I kept waking - it’s triggered my insomnia again. Haven’t had more than a few hours sleep now for over a week. Some nights haven’t slept at all. Hoping that I can catch up at the weekend.

Awful day at work yesterday and tomorrow will be the same. Overthinking.

garlictwist · 20/07/2023 04:19

I've got severe foot pain and can't sleep. I've had it for weeks but it's really ramped up today. Feeling so drained. Got to get up for work at 5am.

JellyCatKangaroo · 20/07/2023 04:21

I had a Pacemaker implanted yesterday (feels like today) and I've not manged to sleep yet, despite being home and in my own bed.

NeverThatSerious · 20/07/2023 04:24

Been awake a while now, since my painkillers wore off. Toothache. Dentist reckons I need a root canal, but that she can’t do it (nhs), so has referred me to Bath (which is three hours away!) but it’ll cost me £1200 per tooth, and of course, no guarantee it’ll work. So I’m in agony, desperate to get something done with this tooth, torn over what best to do, stressed about the cost.. I’m not having fun 😂

Overthehillbutnotveryfar · 20/07/2023 04:31

Overthinking - catastrophising - that shouldnt even be a word , maybe it isn’t - builders are wreaking havoc on house and garden all of which I thought I was prepared for but clearly am not - DH thinks it’s all huge fun and enjoying it all 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. My hip hurts, blood pressures up, my ice pick migraines are returning after years at bay.
My heart goes out to everyone awake for whatever reason, it’s a lonely tine ! For those who just always wake at 3 am and worry apparently it’s a common thing - we are at our lightest ebb in the sleep cycle and we can’t solve anything so get tangled in ‘barbed wire thinking ‘ . Try Googling it and check out breathing and relaxation techniques . Peace to you all.

Tistheseason17 · 20/07/2023 04:31

In hospital. 2 days post op. Waiting for oramorph to take affect. May doze off in s mo. Like a noisy militarily plane or helicopter.
@NeverThatSerious I went to private dentist in Clifton, Bristol (not much further) who was fab. I would sell a lung to see him again. It was pain free. Likely Bath dentist the same.

misunderstoodMilo · 20/07/2023 04:37

This post is quite helpful because you feel so alone and troubled being awake at this time in the morning. My 13 year old dog has taken to waking up crying in the middle of the night in the last week or so. I’m thinking we may have to say goodbye soon as he has lumps and bumps and trouble with his back legs😢😢😢

Overthehillbutnotveryfar · 20/07/2023 04:39

NeverThatSerious - poor you - but you should be able to get root canal treatment via the NHS . Check out online at the NHS site - it’s listed under band 2 treatment at around £70.00. Is it just she can’t do it ? I’d push the dentists a bit more . You’re in pain they should be able to find you urgent treatment. Is there a dental hospital anywhere nearby ? I’ve had this and it’s agony but the root canal treatment did work .

Ive been kept awake by snoring. Now the birds are bloody loud. Millions of things on my mind and I’m done with the lot of it.

Have several uncomfortable conversations that need to be had with family later and absolutely dreading it. Wish I could disappear for a bit and when I return it’s all sorted.
