I have zero reason to be awake yet awake I am. This happens every couple of weeks for no reason. I’m in work at 9 and not looking forward to it after a night of no sleep.

ARRGHHHHHxxxxx · 20/07/2023 05:02

I've been up because my DD who's 9 has chickenpox. It seems to be affecting her sleep a lot and she can't get comfortable. Given her Calpol and some cream on the spots that the pharmacy gave me.

FloNightingale · 20/07/2023 05:04

I woke up just after 3 for no apparent reason. Getting up for work in 15 minutes.

I’m going to be relying on coffee to get me through today.

iwishiwasonhol · 20/07/2023 05:18

woke up at 3 as alarm went off as i needed to drive my daughter to the airport for her first ever holiday abroad ,i need to leave for work at 730 its going to be a very long day

NOTANUM · 20/07/2023 05:40

Up since 5am when I woke up with a start, despite working late on a presentation I’ve to give this morning for which I am not well prepared.

NOTANUM · 20/07/2023 05:41

@HelenaHandbasket84 I am sorry to read your mum died recently. Grief must be the worst reason to be awake in the early hours of the dawn.

timesogin · 20/07/2023 06:15

Thinking of everyone this morning. Time to get up for work now while the DC and DH carry on sleeping deeply...
Coffee time. The first of many I expect!

blueby7 · 20/07/2023 06:18

@DimeStoreHooker isn't it! It feels a bit like torture. Have you had it before? I don't suppose you have any good news about recovery or tips if so?

Also I have never watched Argo and didn't think I would be interested but having now heard what it's about it sounds very interesting! Thank you 😊

Different time zone so now awake for the day.

However I was awake at 3:00 am. We'd met a friend for dinner and got home at 12:30 then couldn't sleep until gone 3:00. I had a coffee at breakfast and I think that might have been the cause. Caffeine seems to take a long time to leave my body.

mumlovesvodka · 20/07/2023 07:11

Well my beautiful night time companions, I hope you all have as good a day as possible on so little sleep

Hugs to all that need them, and coffee to all!

Worrying about whether to go through with a house purchase. Offer accepted at the top our budget and a large mortgage fixed for 5 years at over 5%, just as rates and house prices are predicted to fall.....
I regularly wake at 3/4am worrying though. Think it's perimeno. What I worry about is the only thing that varies.

Rockschooldropout · 20/07/2023 07:36

I live between Fairford and Brize Norton but the planes rarely wake me .. however I was awake at 3 am when the dulcet tones of a cat vomming on my carpet woke me up 😫

NeverThatSerious - poor you - but you should be able to get root canal treatment via the NHS . Check out online at the NHS site - it’s listed under band 2 treatment at around £70.00. Is it just she can’t do it ? I’d push the dentists a bit more . You’re in pain they should be able to find you urgent treatment. Is there a dental hospital anywhere nearby ? I’ve had this and it’s agony but the root canal treatment did work .

I know, that’s what I thought, I did raise that point that it’s literally on the list of available treatments on the nhs but she wouldn’t budge, apparently all endodontic referrals are now private. I was just horrified at the price, I mean, we could do it but it’s such a tight time for us, could’ve done without this really.

I discovered during the hot spell of weather (distant memory here now) in the early hours, that if I cooled my body down so that I was shivery when I then curled up under a thin cover it was easier to get back to sleep.
Not just five minutes of no covers and thin nightwear, more like half an hour or so of lying in bed, or wandering around, Then pull cover over me and count backwards and I often get back to sleep. Weird but it seems to work for me (also helps if I don't have major worry on my mind!!).
