Could be different answers, but in the face of it 26

Yes, the cats are differently sized but I have assumed that is an error by whoever did the artwork.

Imanalias · 15/07/2023 14:13

I'm with the 28's.

As several other posters have said, 3 x cat = 60. 60/3 = 20, so cat =20
Cat + 2 sets of 3 eggs = 26. We know cat = 20. That leaves us 2 sets of 3 eggs = 6 because 26-20=6. Therefore 1 egg= 1
Set of 3 eggs + 2 sets of 6 bananas = 15. Because e know 3 eggs =3, the 2 sets of 6 bananas = 12. This means 1 banana =1

In the final picture we have to apply BODMAS and so multiply eggs and bananas first. However, there are fewer of each. There are 4 bananas and 2 eggs. Each of those items individually = 1, so we multiply 4 by 2 which gives 8.
Add the cat, worth 20 and you get 28

But once you go down that route the whole edifice comes crashing down! It's all based on "clever" gotchas. What about the baskets? Maybe that x was a typo and they meant to put a + like on all the other rows!

EmpressaurusOfCats · 15/07/2023 14:18

I forgot about BODMAS.

Wallywobbles · 15/07/2023 14:30
  1. 4 bananas 2 eggs 1 cat.
Wallywobbles · 15/07/2023 14:31

20+2x4. So either 88 or 160.

Wallywobbles · 15/07/2023 14:33

And that's why I always get my taxes wrong.

@Imanalias Yes, I agree with your reasoning.

@LauraNicolaides Possibly the baskets were included to make it more difficult to spot that not all baskets contain the same number of eggs. Initially, I saw two baskets of eggs and didn't stop to count the eggs in the basket in line 4.

ChittyBangabang · 15/07/2023 15:06

I can't find the answer Confused

I think 28
Due to sneaky change of number of eggs, and bananas, and Bosman, so multiplying first then addition. However, cats are sneaky, and I wouldn’t trust this one.

The basket is there to distract you from counting the number of eggs, either that or it's so the eggs don't roll off the counter and break (which happened to me this morning 😩)

a cat is 20 , eggs are 3 nd nanas 6

FrivolousTreeDuck · 15/07/2023 17:16

It is impossible to put a number on the value of a cat. They are priceless.

ChittyBangabang · 15/07/2023 18:39

Well done those who stuck with it

C + c + c = 60. So a cat = 60/3=20 for one cat

c + e. + e = 26
20 + e. + e = 26
2e = 26 - 20
2e = 6
e = 3. So eggs = 3

e. + b + b = 15

  1. + b + b = 15
2b. = 15 - 3 2b = 12 b. = 6 . So bananas = 6

Therefore
cat. +. egg + banana
20 + 3 + 6. = 29.

Am I missing something
How can it be 28?
