The what are you doing today threads. I don't see them so much these days.

When I was going through IVF hell trying to conceive DC I used to read these threads and fantasise about family life.

So here I am, walking Ddog in the park, it's cold and very very windy in London today but that's ok because it means the park isn't bustling with summer tourists and it's just the locals.

DDs doing arts and crafts with DH at home and we are heading off the to cinema soon. DDs super excited about all the popcorn and sweeties they can eat.

Later we might go to a soft play or mooch around the shops, stopping for a hot chocolate. I need to get a leg wax at some point this afternoon too.

I'm going out tonight for some cocktails with my girlfriends - looking forward to getting dressed up!

What's happening in your home?

That sounds like a lovely day!

Our weather has been awful lately (NI,tons of rain and thunder). But at the minute it is dry and I'm in the garden under a tree with a coffee watching my dog mill about and hunt for lost tennis balls. I have a book with me but I'm mumsnetting!

I started clearing kitchen cupboards yesterday and got half way through. I am feeling very satisfied at my decluttering. So I'll finish that this morning.

We have friends visiting later on but I'm hoping to get out for a big long walk this afternoon.

I should say because such threads are on Chat they disappear from page 1 very quickly. For this reason post on it asap than track via "I'm on".

orangeleavesinautumn · 15/07/2023 09:11

I am sitting in my arm chair looking around me at all the house work I should be doing, and thinking, naaahh,, just another hour on mumsnet

Your day sounds so lovely. I'm a bit jealous.

orangeleavesinautumn · 15/07/2023 09:54

I have stirred off my fat bottom, and washed up a cup, and made myself some coffee. Does that count as having started the housework?

LeonoraFlorence · 15/07/2023 10:11

Your day sounds lovely. I love walking in London on any day.

We are on holiday so not a normal day. We have just had breakfast and DDs are all in the pools. DDs 1 & 2 are playing with new little friends. DD3 and 5 are playing with DH at ‘cake baking’ at the little pool with water toys. DD4 is going up and down the mini water slides with another little girl, I’m keeping an eye on them.
It’s a lovely resort but feels really busy at the moment so need eyes on the back of our heads!

YouNeverCanTellWithBees · 15/07/2023 10:56

Aww I'm glad you got the family life you dreamed of!

It's rainy here, we've had a rare lie in and no plans other than packing for holiday next week. DDs are playing nicely together, not sure what but something that involves getting all the toys out and arranging them around the living room...

Fiftyisthenewsixty · 15/07/2023 12:02

I'd love to walk in a cool London park. Here it's too hot to go out. I went for a walk at 6 which was lovely but probably staying in for the rest of the day, before taking kids out for an ice cream later.

garlictwist · 15/07/2023 12:03

A wet weekend here. DH is away and none of my friends are around so just me. I've been swimming and about go to the cinema.

mrsneate · 15/07/2023 12:25

I love these threads too!

I just dropped DS12 and DS15 off at their fathers a day early as they asked to go.

Ddog is sitting on the stairs shaking like a leaf cos of the wind and rain noise on the conservatory.

DP. Is napping, on a ship in the North Sea!

I am currently having a drink and "breakfast" before I put a hair treatment on my hair, and then tackle sorting out mine and DP's massive wardrobe, we have too many clothes!

I do have a small to do to list which I need to tick for before he arrives home on Monday Grin

-clean and refill hot tub

  • sort out shoe cupboard/porch area,
  • change beds

I don't need to do all this for clarification he doesn't expect a spotless house when he gets home but I like to do it 😁

I'm also probably going out tonight with the girls for a few down the local pub (where I met (Dp)

RabbitsRock · 15/07/2023 12:32

I often start “ What’s Happening In Your House?” threads as I find them comforting somehow.

neleh87 · 15/07/2023 12:35

What a lovely day! I'm jealous of the cocktails.

I'm sitting with my 3 month old DS snoozing on my lap. I need to get up and get ready to go out to meet my friend for lunch, so he can meet the baby. We're going for Greek food.

Later me and DP will have a chilled evening, maybe play a game. Chicken burgers for tea. Settle the baby. Early night. Very happy with my life at the moment.

Crunchymum · 15/07/2023 12:43

The lovely lucysmam usually does one of these threads at the weekend, I was actually just thinking I've not seen her usually Saturday thread.

We're on an utter go slow after a mega week (3 primary age kids, it gets so nuts this time of year). Had swimming earlier and have to drop middle DC to a party at 3pm. In-between I'm trying to get through some chores. DP working but he's promised me a Thai take away later. Yummy!!

RoyalImpatience · 15/07/2023 12:43

Wow how can you get a leg wax at such short notice?

jennyjones198080 · 15/07/2023 12:59

I am having a lovely lazy Saturday. It’s freezing and wet here - I am
curled up in the sofa with a big glass of apple juice and a good book. Will visit the parents after lunch then do a bit of housework.

I really need to cut the grass bit it won’t stop raining!!

Eggsley · 15/07/2023 13:05

I love these threads too.

DH and DS2 have been to football training this morning, and I have been selling teas/coffees at the local football club. DS1 has been gaming in bed.

I've just made a quick lunch, as DS2 has a party this afternoon and needs a shower before we go as he's muddy from football. I've got to wrap the present but DS2 has written the card. DH is planning a quiet afternoon on the sofa watching cricket. DS1 has emerged from his room to collect his lunch and has disappeared back there. He might surface around dinner time.

The local pub has a beer festival today with some bands playing tonight which we might wander along to later. Not sure what is for dinner yet, might need to pop into Tesco on the way back from the party.

It's really windy here with heavy showers, hoping it brightens up soon!

lastminutewednesday · 15/07/2023 13:26

I've been to work for a few hours-the last o care for is in her last days I think so I've looked on on her.
Came home to find dd1 frantically looking for her lost handbag and saying she would give up on life if she didn't find it. I found it in about 3 seconds so drama averted.
Dd2 still in bed so nagged her to get up.
DSS1 on his PlayStation, DSS2 on the iPad. Dh gone to get his hair cut.
Kitchen looks like a bomb hit it, so having a quick sandwich and a cup of tea then will mobilise everyone as we are going to a local music festival this afternoon. In the rain. At this point I think I'd rather stay in with my book and the dogs but I doubt I'll get away with it!

lastminutewednesday · 15/07/2023 13:29

I love these threads too. They put me in mind of the old government mass observation projects-sort of little vignettes into the lives of normal people. I find them really comforting-that sort of Sonder thing -releasing everyone else is out there going about their one lives same as you are doing yourself.

GreyCarpet · 15/07/2023 13:30

My boyfriend's got a gig tonight.

He went out this morning to pick up the gear for it. I stayed at home and had a footspa and did laundry.

He'll be back soon. We'll fall asleep in front of a film, get ready for tonight and then go out in time to set up etc. Then the gig.

Natsku · 15/07/2023 13:42

I got up early because I couldn't get back to sleep after DS had a nightmare and finished organising his lego, then tidied everything up because 1 year old niece is visiting tomorrow and don't want her eating the lego!

Neighbour's grandson came round to play with DS so I played with them until lunchtime and added more parts to our junk playground. Now DS has gone over to theirs to play and I've done the vacuuming and mopping. Soon I'll go over there too to help supervise when its paddling pool time (I took over our garden slide to use as a water slide - great fun for them). I can see the two of them chasing the neighbour around his garden with toy swords right now - they are really enjoying the summer right now.

SIL is round to hang out with DD (she's only 3 years older than DD) and now they've decided to walk to the shop because they're bored.

OH is playing guitar in the basement, as usual on weekends.

Wow how can you get a leg wax at such short notice?

I live in central London, there's loads of places within a walk or short bus ride, I'm spoiled for choice, there's always at least one place that will have availability Smile

I like these threads too. I like lucysmams threads on a Saturday morning too.
We've been to watch ds2 in an end of season football tournament this morning. He won player of the year so is really pleased.
Picked up dd2 from a sleep over.
Had a catch up with dd1 before she went to work.... she took the other three dc to see the grandma with her first because we have a house viewing at 3.
I've done a clean and tidy up and I'm about to head out with the dogs to let the EA do the viewing.
No big plans this afternoon after that.

Buildingthefuture · 15/07/2023 14:55

I’ve got a bit of a bug, so nothing too exciting for me today. Walked the dogs this morning, DH made me a lovely bacon and egg sandwich, now I’m slobbing on the couch in my comfy clothes with the hounds, watching Wimbledon and enjoying a nice glass of Rose ( for medicinal purposes 🤣🤣) DH will make dinner later (I am not often poorly, but he’s great when I am) and tomorrow will be much the same. In my defence, our next 3 weekends are all booked up and work is super busy (same as everyone!) so I’m taking this weekend off to get back to full form.
Also jealous of the waxing availability! Live in the arse end of nowhere and have to book appointments well in advance. Also come out in a rather alarming rash after waxing (look like the last chicken in Sainsbury’s!) so couldn’t be waxed directly before a night out 🤣🤣🤣
