BBC Presenter and yet more allegations

1000 replies

friendlycat · 11/07/2023 23:28

It would appear that the front page of tomorrow’s The Sun has further allegations about messages with a new 17 year old. Creepy hearts etc

Scrolling through Sky news and seeing front pages of the papers. This appears bottom right on The Sun front page.

Yet he's still on an iPlayer programme! Explain that?

Quveas · 12/07/2023 08:21

LaDeeDa123 · 12/07/2023 08:09

@Quveas how can you possibly say with any certainty you know a lot more about this than anyone else? It’s such a ridiculous thing to say. If you did, you certainly wouldn’t be talking nonsense about gravy trains.

To those people who are saying this an attempt for people to make money, and I say this as someone who despises The S*N newspaper, if your words stop one person from coming forward who has been the victim of a sexual offence, you are absolutely disgusting and should be ashamed of yourselves.

Pot, kettle, black. You are jumping to conclusions that you know nothing about. Not at all odd on this thread, which features "let's make up stuff and leap to conclusions". You may enjoy debating your own moral highground - I won't be playing with you any longer. If you have a single FACT to present that says a criminal activity has taken place, present it.

This is an interesting take. He is a presenter, not a news investigator or news writer. He literally reads the words on the autocue which others have written and carries out interviews. The trust should be in the people who have investigated and written the news etc, not the mouthpiece.

whether he can continue to have the gravitas is another thing.

And who are those writing and investigating the news? No one knows.
Because they are faceless.

Some presenters are the ‘face’ of BBC - such as the one caught up in this scandal. They naturally carry power, influence and authority and it’s the abuse of this power that is most disturbing.

Bellajac · 12/07/2023 08:22

GraysPapaya · 12/07/2023 07:13

If it is who we think it is, the job requires a certain level of trust and decorum. The person is there to get the nation through tough times. You need integrity.
I don’t want to listen to a person in that role knowing they’ve broken marriage vows and are having online affairs with people 40+ younger. Some of which may have occurred under the age of consent to do so.
I’d judge a male friend of my if he did it at my age, let alone 60+ and in that job.

I agree with this. If it is the person suggested then he should recognise this and resign. I still hope it's not him.

KingJamesTheTurd · 12/07/2023 08:15

Whoever this presenter is, it's bloody weird to hero-worship someone just because you've seen them on telly, and to have your faith in humanity destroyed because someone you don't know and will never meet might have done something unpleasant.

The thing is many younger people and children (and even some adults) hero worship people on tv, in films, and the latest ones to receive the adoration is 'influencers' and YouTubers. It feels crazy to well rounded, mature individuals but to young people it isn't. Many influences have done nothing more than be born to a famous person/parents or appeared for a short time on a reality tv show. They make a huge amount of money, carry lots of status (for their followers - yes it feels like sheep) and are hero worshipped by some.

LaDeeDa123 · 12/07/2023 08:24

Nobody knows if this is a moral or legal situation yet. We don’t even know the gender. It’s all speculation. If one of these young people is under 18 and there are pictures an offence could be made out. The way that these communications are done is usually by encrypted messages and I saw on the infamous photo that was encrypted and screenshot. There are now ways in which the police can access this and perhaps that’s what’s happening.

WHERE the hell can I find out who it is?!

Search 'BBC presenter scandal'.

I use a separate search engine to Google, so don't know if it would come up with similar results but yesterday evening the top results I was getting mentioned his name just from those three words.

It's flaming ridiculous that we all have to pretend it's not him at this point.

This. Especially when they are the face of public mourning at particular times.

Oh yes - younger people hero-worshipping people who turn out to be complete creeps is not unusual or surprising. I was more surprised that a grown woman would feel this way (assuming that the person who posted that comment was a grown woman - though that was just an assumption!)

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 08:26

Quite frankly the radio silence speaks volumes about his integrity and decency.

He has stood back and allowed his colleagues of many decades to be thrown under the bus, he is allowing the BBC to suffer irreparable damage to their reputation and credibility whilst he sits in a bunker and tries to ride it out, rather than resign and offer a public apology.

I can only imagine that maybe there is worse to come and so resigning or apologising is a waste of time.

KingJamesTheTurd · 12/07/2023 08:27

Also - if it's the person who Twitter says it is, I can't believe that anyone would give two hoots (other than being repulsed by an adult male who solicits young people). He isn't a person with any particular status or ability - other people at the BBC do that job just as well.

There are photos of a bare backside with pants around the ankles on the internet for all to see.

Bellajac · 12/07/2023 08:22

Unfortunately given his job he can't stay in that role either way.

A lesser personality wouldn't have been held to the same standards.

This guy really does carry the weight of the BBC's reputation though. And for that he has to go.

Even if he's innocent. Not at this point.

He did express two years ago that he couldn't stay in the job forever and he didn't know how long he wanted to stay. He expressed a desire for his talented colleagues to also have career opportunities...

... He has reached early retirement age.

LunaNorth · 12/07/2023 08:28

He’s a craven coward at this point. He needs to own his behaviour.

His poor family.

LaDeeDa123 · 12/07/2023 08:29

@Quveas Are you for real? Are you actually reading my posts? I have been saying there is no evidence one way or another. How you have interpreted this as me saying there is evidence of an offence is beyond me. You are the one saying there is no evidence and people are going to jump on ‘the gravy train.’ You are the strongest voice on this thread screaming that there is no evidence. You have no idea of that. You can’t have any idea of that. That’s fine, as long as people like you don’t stop any genuine victims, if such people exist, from coming forward.

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 08:30

So if this was all that was going to come forward I imagine a resignation and an apology would be a good idea, but I somehow think he has calculated that it will soon be swept away by events.

yes but who is driving the bus and who is doing the throwing.

The bus is driven by The Sun who deliberately stirred up a media feeding frenzy. The ones doing the throwing are those mindlessly speculating with nothing but hate and bigotry to back it up.

LaDeeDa123 · 12/07/2023 08:31

@KingJamesTheTurd There are definitely other people who can do his job but this person has huge status. He was given a massive job recently, one which the BBC entrusted to him because of the gravity of the situation. The BBC will be worried about this repercussions of this in the future.

Meadowfly · 12/07/2023 08:32

Translucent ‘horrendous, dispicable harm’ - the allegation is that he bought a semi naked picture from a 17 year old who was willing to sell it. How is that horrendous and dispicable harm? It’s really grim and very embarrassing for the 17 year old but they did have a choice and it’s not really the same as being physically abused. Enough hyperbole!!

Meadowfly · 12/07/2023 08:34

I wonder if the young person sold pictures to anyone else? Are they going to be named too?

gemstoneju · 12/07/2023 08:35

I find the assumption that some privileged man can go philandering as he pleases regardless of the fact that he has a wife, children and high profile career, while posturing as a churchgoer/Christian, quite disturbing and depressing. The people defending this individual would be more at home in a previous era. They're really not the progressives they think they are. Their attitudes just enable disgusting male sexual entitlement.

Well said

LaDeeDa123 · 12/07/2023 08:37

@Meadowfly why? Do you want them to be? Also, the presenter hasn’t yet been named. Do keep up.

Translucentwaters · 12/07/2023 08:16

I can’t believe we are FUNDING this depravity.

Yes, that’s our money being funnelled into this horrendous despicable harm to children, and they are children. Created by a man who considered himself far too powerful and untouchable to be held accountable for his sordid actions.

This is escalating into something far, far worse than we initially thought.

Just wait till you hear about Jeffrey Epstein.....

The sun will be seeking out and paying £££ to keep their crap story alive.

So fucking what he sent some emojis to someone. The first person doesn't want to proceed with anything, the second has said the presenter sent mean messages when he had hinted he would name the presenter online, the Third met up with him, the 4th received some emojis.

Fuck me. This is such a load of nonsense

I'm starting to think this too. These people hack the phones of missing schoolkids, they'll make up anything.
