Registry office wedding - have mixed views on this dress…

I really like it, and I know that’s what counts. Had a few people say to me that it’s nice but more as a dress for hen do or reception rather than my actual wedding dress. I think it’s appropriate since we are going to a registry office and for a few nice photos. Do you think it’s underwhelming? Thought it would be best to get multiple opinions!

A hen do! Who in their right mind wears white for a hen-do?
(Unless they're prepared for it to be stained, or worse.)
It's a pretty dress and absolutely fine for a civil ceremony, or even a low key church service.

You can get white dresses for a fiver from places like Boohoo... Quite disposable.
Alternatively quite a few people have, erm ,civilised hen dos like afternoon tea. No staining there...

It's a lovely dress OP, and if you like it then wear it and ignore what anyone else thinks. Who cares if anyone thinks it is underwhelming? It's not their wedding.

But, @Threenow, the OP has specifically asked for opinions. You speak as if posters are seeking her out to inflict unwanted and unwarranted wounding …

It’s a Style and Beauty thread. No one is forced to submit their clothes to scrutiny here. I’m sure the OP is perfectly capable of keeping her own counsel, regardless of what anyone here says, if that’s what she wants to do. It’s a bit … silly to try to make posters feel guilty for participating in the thread in a perfectly normal way.

She also said she really likes it and feels it is appropriate for a registry office wedding. A bunch of randoms on MN have no idea what type of things she likes to wear and seem intent of pushing their own idea of style onto her. I really don't see the point of asking others when she has already decided that she likes it.

Nope. You’re still not understanding the raison d’être of the S&B board. I give up! Grin

Maybe take that up with the OP then 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep is a goer. Love the back of this dress

CapEBarra · 13/07/2023 05:08

I love it apart from the whole ‘cold shoulder’ thing which is a bit 2018, but if you have fabulous shoulders go for it!
