This. It’s hideous the way people think it’s ok to keep naming people and it will do no harm. Understand that it does and that extends to their children and wider family. Why is this thread not being closed like the other ones today?

As for the teacher talking on here about an older pop star not being innocent, perhaps you might understand if the news ran a story about you being a hopeless teacher and accused you of not behaving in safeguarding terms around your pupils. Then people on MN start to talk about you, presuming your guilt based on what they think they know. Perhaps then you might not think it’s ok to speculate about others.

We have media laws in this country for a reason and the newspapers can push those rules to the absolute edge if they get a tiny sense of a story. It doesn’t mean the whole story is true. Twitter and other platforms are allowed to run free and stick two fingers at any rules, which is utterly depressing.

Great - so you would put them through the SUN would you? Because it treats pretty much EVERYBODY disgustingly. If you are going to quote me, quote the entire context, because I also pointed out that there were many more reputable and less salacious places to go than to the Sun - if you had any real concerns about your child in this scenario. Whatever you think about reporting to the police, and perhaps you are someone who wouldn't go to the police, would you genuinely drag your child into the Sun, because the Sun do not for one second care about this young man, his parents, or anything else that doesn't centre around themselves.

I can’t remember the exact wording but it is an offence to possess indecent images of someone under 18 . So if someone one solicited paid for and had photos in their possession then yes .

Considering he's threatening to sue and has categorically said it's not him then I'd be careful throwing round baseless accusations as if you have the facts. People have been sued for what they post on social media.
