Liz Jones and her ex: Just why?

I really could not avoid her latest batshit crazy piece in the Daily Mail because excerpts are all over Twitter. Do they really get paid enough for that?

I tried to read the article, but my eyes rolled back in my head and I fell asleep, so strong was the emotion of 'who cares'. My interest was caught by your post, but the reality was too much.

I feel sorry for both of them, and think DM have a duty of care there. With them having written derogatory things about each other in the past (and having an acrimonious break), it was very likely this was not going to be a happy meeting.

I feel worse for her, as he could have said no. Instead, he accepted her invite and seemed to resent every second of it. I found that a very strange strategy from his side, unless he wanted to take the opportunity to set the record straight on her home turf.

They both come off so poorly, and also unwell. There is no grace there, especially not on his part.

I confess that I used to find and read Liz every week (and had the book Blush), for absolutely years. I always felt worried for her; the lack of money and self esteem.

I think I possibly stopped reading some time after she left a sort of small holding (I don't think she was popular with the locals). The articles started to lack credibility and there was a lot of discussion on here about the sperm stealing and other oddities.

I've always found her batshit, totally self absorbed, money and what it buys are obsessions, constantly talking about designer clothes, buying items to buy love both for her and others,telling lies about her age before the marriage, taking a condom and trying to get pregnant with the contents, all of the articles about the men in her life, then wondering why she has no man in her life. Does she really model her life on a stupid TV programme? I'm a bit older than her and it just seems he behaves like a teenager. I'll stop now!

Jeez is that still going on?! I used to read her column and rants about him round my parents' on a Sunday about 15 years ago and they were long divorced then!

Oh dear. I've just read the article. Nirpal comes across very badly out of this. Dreadful man. The names he calls her in his piece, it's abusive quite frankly.

You guys must travel in different worlds to me but I don't find her that bad. She married the same month I did so always enjoyed her articles and took them with a grain of salt (license to make it more interesting and dramatic than it perhaps was). Lack of self awareness I agree, but I know people like that.
I used to work in publishing so quite believed her journalism stories. And I know someone who viewed her Islington house when it was on the market and her portrayal of that was accurate.
But the her ex is delusional- she was never kind to him in print (now that WOULD be dull) but he seems to think that he had no part in the decision to get married etc. why did he agree to the 'reunion'? Money.

I found them both deeply unpleasant and the article was so obviously a set up, orchestrated to be 'wittily' disparaging of the other....they honestly must think their readers are thick.

I absolutely love a bit of bonkers Liz Jones but I read that yesterday with my mouth wide open. I can only assume they have colluded with each other to write this vile piece and split the money.

If he hates her as much as he says he does, there’s no way he’d have agreed to meet her.

It’s all so daft, I can’t help but think much of it is a joke.

She's 2 years younger than me, if I acted that way I think my family would be looking to section me or something. I can't believe anyone would think a nearly 65 year old behaves like that, or like she acts in any of her articles,if she was the MIL of any one posting here would you think she was OK?

Either they are both not like the rest of us or they're both rather clever and have chosen to co-operate in slagging one another off for mutual financial gain. I'm inclined to suspect the latter. I don't like seeing the audience played cynically like that, but it's not my money and it's none of my business.

I wouldn't describe what Nirpal said as 'wittily disparaging'. Abusive, ageist and misogynistic, yes.

If orchestrated then it appears, going by SM, that Nirpal has suffered damage to his reputation as a result of going too far.

She will write about anything. I remember she did an article years ago about stealing her husband’s sperm 🤮 I think it was the guy in this article actually.
