Not winning the lottery is making me sad.

That’s it really.

I would be content let happy to win a couple million. Obviously the massive 124 millions jackpots are great, but a couple million I’d be happy with that.

How much would you like to win to really make a difference in your life, not just a good splash about for a nicer house and new car, but really change your life?

'Such big prizes are pointless - what the hell would you spend it on?'

Stuff! Lovely, beautiful stuff!

nokidshere · 03/07/2023 21:56

I want the whole 150million + win. I would keep 25million for me/family, and the rest I would 'do good stuff' with. At least if I was doing stuff I'd know where every penny was going rather than the government, the lottery, or the taxman having it.

Nowifi · 03/07/2023 21:57

I don't often do the lottery as every time I do I get genuinely convinced I'm going to win and then I'm so disappointed when I don't. I thought it was just me but clearly not!

dancinginthesky · 03/07/2023 21:58

I have won, not in the amounts that would buy more than a few more tickets though yet so I'm not sad I've never won but it's a little disappointing when you win fairly often but not beyond about £13

Mumtothreegirlies · 03/07/2023 21:59

I’d love to win a stinking rich amount of money on the euroMillions obviously but right now £50k would change my life. I’d buy a nice secondhand motorhome for £15k and take my children off travelling for a year.

Nowifi · 03/07/2023 22:00

@ssd 😅😅😅

NegativNancy · 03/07/2023 22:01

I honestly think me and DP could stop working if we won 2 million. The interest alone would see us right and we could pay off the mortgage.
Sadly not happened yet.

Doyoumind · 03/07/2023 22:07

Same.

Creepyrosemary · 03/07/2023 22:10

A million would be nice. I'd buy two houses to let and that would give me enough monthly income to be able to study for myself and save more for uni/ driving lessons/ a house deposit for DD. I already live in a home that is imperfect but that I love and I don't care about new cars or expensive shoes or clothes so I doubt that that would change much. I do love jewelry but only if I make it myself which takes so much time that the spend is already manageable now. I might take an extra holiday to London or Athens and hire a gardener to do the weeding...

Reading this back has just made me realise how happy I already am with what I have. I've come a long way to get here.

Teddypops · 03/07/2023 22:14

I could easily spend £10M. That's what I would like.

I would buy a nice house near me for about £3M. Few nice cars including a Ferrari and a Maserati.

I would then travel the world for a year. Then have lots of holidays.

I would also give about £1M away.

I would follow the F1 Grand Prix in luxury for another year.

Then probably end up penniless!!

I live my lottery daydreams.

Mallowmarshmallow · 03/07/2023 22:17

Yep, me too!

I've spent most of my evening viewing the most expensive houses in the south east to decide which one I want.

I rarely actually play, and only if it's over £100million. I'm going big! (Well, I mean.... I'm not..... but in my dreams I am!)

Colourfingers2 · 03/07/2023 22:28

Personally I think that the lottery is a very cruel invention of modern times. What it has done is give poor people hope every week only to provide disappointment.
Before the lottery poor people like me never had any hope and we got along just fine without it.

IKnowItsNotMine · 03/07/2023 22:32

It’s really holding me back being a povo. I have a really expensive hobby that I’m very mediocre at, but with a ton of tuition and all the gear I might scape an ‘adequate’.

It’s outrageous actually.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 03/07/2023 22:36

I’m astonished I haven’t won yet. I’ve done it lots and not won a single £1million. I just want enough to get the kids on the housing ladder (in an expensive area) and to pay for lots of holidays and a really lush care home for me, and maybe for some of my friends. Is that too much to ask?

TokyoSushi · 03/07/2023 22:41

I'd honestly be happy with £100,000 - surely that's not too much to ask!!

Phos · 03/07/2023 22:42

Enough to pay off the mortgage would be really helpful but realistically I'd love to win a Euromillions style jackpot, just never have to work again. I'd probably just study degree after degree in stuff I'm actually genuinely interested in and volunteer at a cat shelter.

Wintry57 · 03/07/2023 22:45

I can’t get behind the winners are less happy thing - surely if the money’s making you miserable you give it away?

shocked I’ve not won yet too - but I did move to trying to do more in premium bonds on the basis that it’s also a gamble but you don’t lose your stake.

Boomboom22 · 03/07/2023 22:46

I think 5m would be enough to not worry. Pay the mortgage off, buy new cars, maybe move to a bigger house. Go more pt. My husband would retire early and keep the grounds. Enough to play a bit. Buy the kids houses and pay uni fees but just normal houses mind. Oh and a few big holidays.

Boomboom22 · 03/07/2023 22:47

Of course I win lucky dips all the time but sadly they never win the jackpot either.

SirenSays · 03/07/2023 22:48

I remember telling my grandma that the lottery should change and instead of one person winning a lot, lots of people should win 1M each.

MicrowaveRice · 03/07/2023 22:48

I need to buy a couple of houses for friends who are being chucked out of rental homes. If I won the really big one, I would put 20 or 50 million into a trust that would buy nice houses to rent out at 500 quid a month to nice people. Fingers crossed!

smilesup · 03/07/2023 22:49

I'm a bit sad and I haven't even played. I would also spend it really nicely and give most of it away if I won loads.

Bakeoffcanbuggeroff · 03/07/2023 23:03

You’ve got a 2% chance of choosing the first ball correctly and the same for choosing each ball after that. 0.02 to the power of six (choosing all balls correctly) gives a tiny, tiny chance you will win. Dream away. It could be you. But statistically it is almost certainly not. 🙂

GentlemanJay · 03/07/2023 23:03

I don't have a lot of money left over at the end of the month, but I can honestly say, I wouldn't be any happier if I won the lottery.

Changymcnamechange · 03/07/2023 23:12

I sometimes play the set for life £10k a month one or the lotto hotpicks £350k one, lucky dips. Either of those would get me a lovely house and change my life!

Also slightly annoyed when I don't win but I like to go on rightmove and fantasize about shopping for somewhere lovely with my win so it keeps me playing every now and again.

Quite frankly I'm not sure I could cope with the stress of responsibility of winning a Euromillions rollover as I couldn't in good conscience keep it all so I never play it. 😅

The odds suck for any of it though and statistically I'm more likely to be hit by lightening lol.
