I'm only going for the evening. It's in a hotel that's known as a good wedding venue locally but nothing OTT posh.

The colour and cut suit me and I'm more likely to wear it again than a "wedding guest" outfit.

That is a gorgeous and very classy dress, just a shame that with my figure I would look like a giant pea in it!

poorbird · 02/07/2023 20:31

That’s absolutely beautiful! And perfect!

geoger · 02/07/2023 20:32

Wear it with gold strappy sandals
Hope you don’t mind but I’m going to look for it as I’d love to buy it too

I love it !!

SmallBox · 02/07/2023 20:36

Both are stunning but the dress can be machine washed on delicate and the jumpsuit is hand wash/dry clean only which would swing it for me as I'm both lazy and cheap.

loveyouradvice · 02/07/2023 20:39

First dress UTTERLY gorgeous ... you will look stunning!! And very appropriate....Love it!

ChickpeaPie · 02/07/2023 20:40

It’s beautiful but I’m going to be the first to say I think it’s a bit much for an evening do! I thought it was ok til I saw the back and then thought nope too much.
If it’s a black tie/formal wedding then it’s great but for a normal wedding in my neck of the woods I’d say it’s just a bit too classy (but that probably reflects what my neck of the woods is like 😂)

ontheplayground · 02/07/2023 20:45

Perfect dress.

I love the jumpsuit too, but its colour/pattern makes it look more daytime than evening (to me).

Dotandtime · 02/07/2023 20:45

OK my next concern is that I don't "do" gold. I had my colours done and was told silver is my jewellery, the dress is one of my top colours, but has the gold buckle. I can live with that but wouldn't put silver jewellery or shoes with it.

I have blue "shell" earrings, not sure exactly what they are but largish studs with a shiny mottled blue and teal pattern. I also have dark blue sparkly heels. They'll be OK....? Or navy suede block heels.

I'll need some sort of bag for phone, lip balm etc.

Yes, TBH that was my thinking when I made the post too...

I’m going against the grain to say that it’s OTT for a wedding reception, unless the wedding is black tie. It’s lovely but a bit ‘look at me’. Love the jumpsuit though which would be perfect for the occasion.

AnneKipankitoo · 02/07/2023 20:48

The green one is out of stock .

Newmum110 · 02/07/2023 20:58

Both are absolutely beautiful. If you feel the first one is too dressy then you should wear the jumpsuit & keep the dress for another occasion. You are so lucky to have found 2 beautiful outfits!!!!

Jumbojade · 02/07/2023 21:30

The dress is absolutely gorgeous, I love the colour. However, like a couple of others say, it is perhaps a little OTT for the evening reception.

The jumpsuit is nice and probably more suitable for the occasion, but having seen the dress, it isn’t in the same ballpark.

Yes, I am a bit concerned about a bra. I have a good strapless one, but I need to try them on together, I think dress might be a bit low at the back.

Otherwise it's a stick on one, which I've never tried before...

What about a convertible where you lengthen the straps and cross them lower?

I agree it’s really nice. I’d wear it with wedges or maybe even flats to keep it low key though.

Noooo! It needs fancy heels. Who wants to be low key?

eggandonion · 02/07/2023 23:43

I got an out of stock phase eight dress from john lewis last year if anyone is looking for one!
This is a beautiful dress op.phase eight are good quality.

SheerLucks · 03/07/2023 00:23

It's perfect IMO!!

Anskl · 03/07/2023 00:31

Not at all, it's beautiful.

wanttokickoffbutcant · 03/07/2023 00:51

Love it

SammyScrounge · 03/07/2023 02:40

The blue dress is stunning. It has a really flattering design I would choose that over the jumpsuit which is looser and will not show your figure off.

Stravaig · 03/07/2023 06:55

Contrarily, I say a garment which flows with ease is far more elegant and classy. The jumpsuit is fantastic is you have the right colouring for it. A spray on dress clinging to every contour looks unsubtle and try hard. Plus, teal.

Palomabalom · 03/07/2023 07:28

I think it’s a beautiful dress. I do think the back makes it look more “ wedding party formal” than the front. However if you don’t go ott with hair and accessories I think it will be fine. It’s really lovely and you’ll feel great wearing it I’m sure!

MegaClutterSlut · 03/07/2023 08:48

I love that dress! playsuit not so much...😊

ThanksItHasPockets · 03/07/2023 09:16

Gorgeous dress.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding a bra. You might need a balconette style with wide-set straps but a properly fitting bra won't show under that back. A well-fitting bra should sit quite low around your back. If it pulls up high then it is too big and you need to size down in the band and up in the cup.
