What sort of coat/ jacket can I wear to a wedding that isn't frumpy?

All the options in JL today looked like they were straight out of the 00s- cropped bolero jackets etc. I don't really like the double breasted blazers either.

I know I'm fussy!

What about a cardigan instead

FarTooHotForMe · 02/07/2023 15:51

Do you actually need a coat/jacket?

1pmdietcoke · 02/07/2023 15:54

Wedding is in Scotland- yes Grin

Cardigan doesn't fill me with joy tbh.

Have you tried Zara ? They always have some good options.
Maine post a pic of your outfit and we can give some suggestions?

Single breasted blazer? I’ve a cream linen striped one that is great in the summer. What is the rest of your outfit?

Pashmina!

1pmdietcoke · 02/07/2023 16:11

I think it will have to be a blazer.

Pashmina, definitely.

It's a beautiful dress

XiCi · 02/07/2023 17:29

I'd just brave the weather. You'll be fine after a couple of drinks 😉

FarTooHotForMe · 02/07/2023 17:41

Pink or orange single breasted blazer.

Coronationstation · 02/07/2023 17:45

I’m sure there’s a bright pink blazer in Sainsburys at the moment

PurplePear7 · 02/07/2023 18:30

Scotland isn’t that bad 😂

I actually think any jacket/cardi would be a nuisance with that dress because of the sleeves, floaty sleeves never tuck in nicely!

h3ll0o · 02/07/2023 18:33

I’ve just brought this for a wedding https://www.oliverbonas.com/fashion/plait-pocket-blue-cotton-denim-jacket-350287#selection.color=15

Something like this maybe ?

Stratocumulus · 02/07/2023 18:37

If all else fails, invest in a neutral colour long wide soft pashmina style wrap.
Buy it now just in case & then your search can be more relaxed because you’ve got a back up.
Have fun.

SleepingisanArt · 02/07/2023 18:39

I'd also go with a pashmina as it will look good with the dress - chic not frumpy!

When is the wedding and where in Scotland? Not all of Scotland is freezing all of the time (I got married there a long time ago on a warm sunny day in May but there was snow in Edinburgh the day before!)

1pmdietcoke · 02/07/2023 19:03

I didn't know if pashminas were in or out either. Minefield, honestly Grin

It's Glasgow in a few weeks. The church is always cold so I do think I need something.

I honestly think a pashmina would look more elegant with your dress. I got a lovely one in Fenwick last summer.

Whataretheodds · 02/07/2023 22:41

There are a couple of pink coatigans which might work and a couple of pink longline macs. (i just googled)
