Things You Love That Always Feature In MN 'Hate' Lists

Here's a chance to rave about the humble Haggis (they do gluten free ones, too!), Mochi, olives, Oysters and all the wonderful things that it seems like people queue up to declare their hatred for!

So here are a few things I absolutely love - anybody else want to join in?

GF Haggis.
Mochi - my absolute favourite was a fresh Strawberry Daifuku, but a couple of Little Moons allowed to properly soften will do at a pinch.
Sashimi with proper Wasabi and Tamari (as per the GF requirement).
Oysters - have to be raw and eaten overlooking the sea - none of that messing around with onions and hot sauce, just as they come, plus some lemon.
Mussels.
Clams.
Langoustine.
GF linguine/spaghetti Frutti di Mare/scoglio
Calamari
Both types of artichokes
Aperol Spritz
Black Olives
Green Olives if they're really fat
Goat's Cheese
Sheep's Cheese
Blue Cheese
Avocado

The worst thing you've ever tried( (Lighthearted) | Mumsnet

Embroidery. Separating out all those threads brought on an inner rage and despair I never knew I had.

I like all of those apart from mochi which I’ve never tried, and coriander, love coriander.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 01/07/2023 21:32

Oh, yes - Coriander! I love my boring, normal Coriander tasting gene!

I've never seen anyone on mumsnet declare a dislike for anything on your list! Am I on the wrong threads, I want to be on the mochi ones!

I love ALL of these things, and you're making me hungry even though I've just eaten breakfast!

Lentilweaver · 02/07/2023 09:46

Not read the thread but:
Lentils!
Coriander.
Okra

Carbs! Including bread - lots of different kinds! And cake and chocolate Smile
Also, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, lentils, olives, most vegetables and pulses.
Love food in general within my dietary bounds (pescatarian).

smilesup · 02/07/2023 09:53

We all love Brussel sprouts in our house.

Lentilweaver · 02/07/2023 09:54

Who doesn't love bread and carbs? May be bad for you, but everybody loves them!

OneSecond · 02/07/2023 09:55

But you see, @Lentilweaver, I love them unconditionally Smile

Lentilweaver · 02/07/2023 09:57

Fair enough. I love them too. Making a sourdough sandwich right now...

greglet · 02/07/2023 09:57

I like all of the things you listed apart from oysters, which I just find pointless.

Sourdough is the best! Apart from German rye, of course.

cheezncrackers · 02/07/2023 10:01

I like most of those things too OP, apart from goat's cheese and calamari. We like Brussels sprouts too - they're one of the few vegetables that both my DC like!

sunglassesonthetable · 02/07/2023 10:04

Love all that stuff!

I love seafood apart from the chewy whelky type things. But oysters…just no, tried them raw, deep fried (ok) but the texture just gets me.

pretty much eat anything else apart from natto.

BarrelOfOtters · 02/07/2023 10:10

Andouillette…..no.

DiDonk · 02/07/2023 10:20

BarrelOfOtters · 02/07/2023 10:10

Andouillette…..no.

No but yes, I can never choose between andouillette, ris de veau and kidneys at my local resto.

Also oysters are the food of the gods

AdaColeman · 02/07/2023 10:42

oysters (especially grilled or fried)
mussels
whelks
snails
in fact anything in a shell
all offal especially ris de veau

anchovies (try them in a sandwich of rare beef, a taste sensation!)

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 02/07/2023 10:53

Offal. Love it, including tripe.

oysters are the food of the gods. Oh yeah.

Brussel sprouts - can take or leave them cooked (preferably leave) but great sliced raw for salads and chock full of Vit C.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 02/07/2023 10:55

LIke everything on your list par Mochi, which I haven't tried and haggis, which I'm not keen on but would eat if there was nothing else.

Bellevu · 02/07/2023 11:05

Toilet brushes.

Love them and have one in both loos.

Ha! I have them too. But have always wondered, how does one clean a toilet without? I don't get it.

I like all vegetables, also, if they are cooked well.

kitsuneghost · 02/07/2023 11:39

I thought it was processed foods mumsnetters hate.
This list is peak mumsnet.
