Embroidery.

Separating out all those threads brought on an inner rage and despair I never knew I had.

I heard the Curb Your Enthusiasm music after I read that post.

I've never seen it. Does someone fall out of a window?

Vetoncall · 02/07/2023 00:59

A caesar cocktail. They're inexplicably popular in Canada. Whoever thought to mix tomato and clam juice together is sick in the head. It was made for me with great fanfare so I took one sip out of politeness and have never fought so hard in my life not to visibly heave 🤢 I managed to dump the rest of it down the sink when nobody was looking.

Southern Comfort. Drank too much of it on an empty stomach and fell out of the first floor window of a wine bar. Landed head first in a bush. I was fine but the smell of Southern Comfort still makes me feel sick 25 years later.
I had a similar experience with Pernod, even the smell of it turns my stomach.

I love Pernod 😀

Snorkelling in deep deep water without a life jacket

Don't .

The rollercoaster at the end of Brighton pier. Felt like being hurtled into the sea. I wondered who was screaming but turned out it was me.

HarrietSchulenberg · 02/07/2023 01:25

And aerobics. 1 hour of flailing about and being out of sync with everyone else.

That huge sea snail that is supposed to be a luxury. Begins with A, I think.
We lived in Finisterre for a long time, made lots of friends, off round for aperitifs...

And that.... Hand picked that day from a dive.

🤮

Abalone. Its awful, on my top 3 worst things ever too

Penninefinch · 02/07/2023 02:00

Had to name change for this, but when young and stupid tried cocaine. Honestly it was terrifying...it felt like my lungs were paralysed and I couldn't breathe. Never again.

Vomit Reaction GIF by MOODMAN

Chitterlings in Normandy as a kid. My mum mis-translated the menu.

Either that or liver. Mum tried me on liver as a kid. I threw up. DH said, I'll cook it differently, with bacon and onions! I tried it, and I threw up.

The pirate boat ride at Wicksteed Park in Kettering. I threw up.

There's a theme.

Andouillette. Oh dear.

Yup! 🤢

Giggorata · 02/07/2023 06:23

Anything made from goats' milk. Too goaty.

Red Bull. Ye gods, you can smell the stench of it across the room, I don't know how anyone could bring themselves to drink the stuff…

Pear drops, yuck.

Olives- work of the devil

Canoeing- fell in the Wye

CornedBeef451 · 02/07/2023 07:21

@whatausername my sister tried embroidery recently, she was looking for something relaxing as she was very stressed and uptight.

Only problem was that setting up the embroidery hoop took her over an hour and she ended up hurling it across the bedroom in rage and so now it lives behind her wardrobe and embroidery has never been mentioned again!

Sagaris · 02/07/2023 08:03

Olive marmalade on holiday in Cyprus.

Vile!

Hershey's chocolate is turning up fairly frequently on this thread. It has a vomity aftertaste for me as well and when I mentioned that on a Mumsnet thread someone replied that there is a preservative or additive in it that is also found in vomit.

Although Americans eat the stuff, I have yet to meet an American who didn't much prefer Cadburys to it. Cadburys in the states is made under license by Hersheys so you'd think they'd have done something about their own brand by now, it's not like they don't know.

I mentioned this further back. The vomit flavour is added deliberately.

First time I got drunk was on Cinzano. Fifty years later and I still can't bear the smell.

mangomelba · 02/07/2023 09:58

Working in a busy bar. My first ever shift was a Friday night and it was a living nightmare. I hadn't received any training at all so constantly messed up drinks and the till. Drunk people had a go at me and the manager shouted when I dropped a glass. They called me the next morning to say they didn't think I was right for the job. I didn't even go in to collect my wages because I couldn't face setting foot in there again!

DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy · 02/07/2023 10:10

Getting my eyelashes done. That weird pressing sensation of the pads they stick down i couldn't handle it at all and told the beautician she had to stop. They charged me a fiver to cover costs for those weird pad things and that was that. Never ever again!
