Naomi Campbell has 2nd child at 53. I presume with help. Surrogate, donor egg?

I hope so....that scared the bejesus out of me, currently decided if condoms are enough at age 47.

*deciding

Wannabegreenfingers · 30/06/2023 14:04

It will be a surrogate like her first.

Of course it will be surrogate just like her first child was.

TeapotCollection · 30/06/2023 14:05

I’m happily child free but I would imagine it’s a different world when you can afford to pay someone to give you a break whenever you need one

stbrandonsboat · 30/06/2023 14:07

For the sake of the child I think it's best to stick to a natural childbearing age. The chance of you becoming ill and dying increases with age, not to mention natural ageing things like tiredness, arthritis, menopause and gynae issues etc. I expect she'll have access to healthcare interventions should she require them, but will still be quite old by the time the kid leaves college/uni and potentially not there anymore in their 30s. I don't agree with men fathering children in their 50s + either.

Simplestead · 30/06/2023 14:12

I didn't realize her first was a surrogate. Bloody news headlines. They make it sound as if she just given birth FFS

Natural childbearing age is defined as 15 to 50 so she is not exactly far off that. Its her choice even if I wouldnt do it at that age myself personally.

Dotandtime · 30/06/2023 14:14

I hope so, I'm 53 and still having periods regular as clockwork. It doesn't bear thinking about.

I don't think she's ever said it was to be honest but it was bloody obvious she hadn't given birth as she was I believe on the catwalk a few weeks before announcing she 'had' a baby.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/06/2023 14:26

It's her choice. It's a selfish choice, though. I would say the same about a 53yo single man choosing to become a parent by 'using' a surrogate mother to give birth to a child. It's too old.

There must be a genetic connection between the baby and Naomi Campbell or she wouldn't be allowed to claim to be the parent without going through adoption procedures, which I doubt she would pass, on grounds of age alone. I assume therefore she had eggs frozen years ago. All a bit clinical for me.

A friend had a surprise baby at 50! 😮

Science!

And indeed pay someone to produce the child in the first place. Bleurgh.

beguilingeyes · 30/06/2023 15:14

My aunt had a baby at 49. She thought it was the menopause...her youngest was 21.

But that's not what has happened here.

Unfortunately NC won't even own her choice. With the first one she emphasised the baby wasn't adopted but still stayed elusive as to how she'd acquired a baby shortly after walking the runway with a flat stomach.

It's not a very complex riddle but for some reason she wants to try to keep it murky.

viques · 30/06/2023 15:16

To be fair I don’t think the surrogate was 53…….

Maybe she should leave it with the birth mother then, and just have visits and photo updates? Like sponsoring a penguin.

Me too. I'm 51 and wondering when they'll stop. Had my first & only at 40. Feel ill most the time now with peri symptoms and find things difficult with my DS. Can't imagine going thru it all again

Holly60 · 30/06/2023 15:24

To be fair to her - she has a lot to offer children.

They will never want for anything materially, and although I'm sure posters will be on to say that material comfort and wealth aren't everything, they go a long way.

Similarly, yes she is 53 but her life expectancy will be higher than most due to her wealth and access to health care etc (look at the Queen)

She probably has the time and resources now to spend with her children that she wouldn't have had previously.

She has given them a sibling so even when she dies, they will have each other.

It's no more selfish than people having children in other less than ideal circumstances.

Do you mean photo updates when the surrogate sends pictures to the commissioning parent , or photo updates when the child is visited, dressed up nicely and has its photo taken ( NO!NOT THE FACE) with the commissioning parent to be displayed on the CP’s social media.

Holly60 · 30/06/2023 15:26

Also... do you think she chose the sexes of her babies. All a bit too neat and perfect - girl followed by a boy - to be chance, surely??

She does seem keen on posing with them TBF.

Another rich person buying a baby. So so wrong.

IheardYouButDontWantToAnswer · 30/06/2023 15:27

I think 53 is far too old. She'll have nannies, though, so won't have to do much with the baby
