Naomi Campbell has 2nd child at 53. I presume with help. Surrogate, donor egg?

@Holly60 this is the woman who wouldn't stop assaulting her staff and throwing phones at people.

Topseyt123 · 30/06/2023 15:38

I would not do it at her age, but good luck to them all. She can easily afford everything they need and has the time to spend with them. They will be very comfortable, I am sure. She can also easily afford to pay for any help she or the children may need.

I'm 57 now and still having the odd period, heavy with severe flooding. I can't wait to be through the menopause now and can't imagine going back to having a baby of my own, though I will be delighted if any of my three DDs ever have babies and will do what I can to help.

A friend had a surprise baby at 50! 😮

Oh please no! You’re terrifying me!

I’m sure the child will be happy they are one of the many commodities that Naomi can afford to buy

It’s funny how people don’t think it’s “selfish” when a man fathers a child at 50.

Men die younger than women, on average, so there’s even more chance of an older father dying before the child is 18.

But no, let’s only judge older mothers.

Lots of people also judge men who have children at an older age but don't let a little thing like that stop your argument.

I do. I think probably most people who see it as selfish for women see it as equally selfish for a man. Unless they're raging misogynistic gits who think parenting is a female/only job.

They judge the 80 year-olds, like Al Pacino whose girlfriend is currently pregnant. But no one bats an eyelid at a 50 year-old man fathering a child.

A woman has a baby at 50 and all hell breaks loose.

Well firstly she's not had a baby at 53 has she.

Secondly many people absolutely judge older fathers even if they 50 and not 80 as they think it's selfish towards their child who will as you've acknowledged likely have less time with their parent.

Indeed. As I said above, there's no way she would have been passed as suitable to adopt a child in the UK.

bevelino · 30/06/2023 16:01

I saw Naomi at an event at the end of April and there was no sign of a bump.

KnitMePurlMe · 30/06/2023 16:04

@bevelino did you read the thread? 😄

littleripper · 30/06/2023 16:17

DM's friend had triplets at 49, it was a bit of a shocker.

AuntieJune · 30/06/2023 16:21

Pay someone to have it for you, pay someone to look after it, pop in every now and again for cuddles.

MissyB1 · 30/06/2023 16:22

Surrogate with egg donation obviously.

What pissed me off was she has the cheek to say “it’s never too late” errr… well not if you are buying a baby I suppose…

Yes faux it's never to late statement made me cross too!

It's stupid to say it's never too late and keep the fact she hasn't actually had a baby a great secret when it could give others struggling false hope.

Oh sweet mother of cupcakes!!! That would be a shock at any age

Wannabegreenfingers · 30/06/2023 14:04

It will be a surrogate like her first.

So basically someone with lots of money and who can afford childcare/nannies decides to use a surrogate so that she can extend her family. Her age is irrelevant since she isn't giving birth!

Is she carrying the baby then? That would be harder on her body but I imagine she's in good physical shape. I didn't realise that. Is she buying eggs from a much younger woman then?

If you mean she has paid Woman A to carry the baby and Woman B (or possibly Woman A) to donate an egg, there's no genetic connection between NC and the baby. How would that be any different from buying a baby outright from an unconnected pregnant woman? Surely the egg must be from NC herself, frozen years and years ago?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/06/2023 17:01

her life expectancy will be higher than most due to her wealth and access to health care etc (look at the Queen)

The Queen was an outlier even amongst the super-rich. She led an extremely healthy lifestyle, keeping her weight down, not smoking, not (as far as we know, anyway) using illegal drugs, no drink problem, active life, lots of fresh air and exercise. She also had the genes for a long healthy life from her mother. Her sister had similar genes but a far less healthy lifestyle and didn't have a particularly long life. From the very little I know of NC, very little of that would apply to her.

Bubblesdublin · 30/06/2023 20:52

@MissyB1 Im sure she had her eggs frozen. Naomi is far too narcasistic to use a donor egg.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/06/2023 20:58

It's not just narcissism. It's a legal requirement that at least one of the commissioning parents has to have provided either the egg or sperm for the conception. Otherwise they really are just buying a baby.

Bubblesdublin · 30/06/2023 21:15

Yes of course she bought the sperm but its her egg Id imagine.

Is that the case in the US? This baby likely came from the US because it’s easier to acquire surrogates and ensure they sign gagging clauses linked to payment.
