Elton John Glastonbury Bingo! Suggestions..?

I need enough to have at least 40 (ideally).

I have, so far, numerous songs, and suggestions for who the mystery guests will be.

I also have names of people who'd potentially be mentioned or spotted (as there won't be commentary during the set, just before - it's not as easy as it is when doing, say, Royal Wedding bingo!)

Each card will have a mixture of the obvious and the not so obvious.

However, hive mind, more suggestions would be great - I have 32 so far, but can also omit some if other better one's come up. There are five of us to make cards for.

Current list is below...

  1. I’m Still Standing
  2. Legend
  3. Harry Styles
  4. Paul McCartney
  5. Britney Spears
  6. Final
  7. Promises to be different
  8. Lady Gaga
  9. First time at Glastonbury
  10. Final UK show
  11. Rocket Man
  12. Kate Bush
  13. Special Guest
  14. Royalty
  15. Honky Cat
  16. The Bitch is Back
  17. Border Song
  18. Tiny Dancer
  19. Showman
  20. Ed Sheeran
  21. Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
  22. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
  23. Candle In the Wind
  24. Your Song
  25. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
  26. I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues
  27. Dua Lipa
  28. David Furnish
  29. Collaborations
  30. Circle Of Life
  31. Sworn to secrecy

Cat stevens however and Russell from Sparks- their voice hasn't changed at all . (Yet).

Live music always sounds different to any studio made recordings. It's just how it is I think.
I can imagine the logistics of transporting the equipment around and sound and even the weather at outdoor festivals must also contribute to how it comes across maybe?
My sons one time piano teacher said that a piano needs time to adjust after being transported anywhere too, to be climatized apparently ! Not that I know anything about instruments myself, just what she told me once after buying a baby grand !

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2023 12:57

The teacher bought the baby grand piano, not me!

Elton uses a Discklavier which is a hybrid acoustic and digital piano

That is how you say goodbye to the U.K. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it, but DH and I loved it, there aren’t many that could play for 2 hours straight, and each song a smash hit, each one recognised. No padding or fillers, no breaks or costume changes, just hit after hit after hit.

Thanks Elton, you were out standing

When I saw him at Leeds Castle many years ago.
He had no support act just him from 7.30 until just after 10, only break he had was a quick costume change.
Just as amazing then as he was last night. Xxx

Yes it’s true. Also, not Glastonbury, but went to see Roger Waters a couple of weeks ago and he still has an amazingly strong voice, sounds the same as ever, and he’s even older at 79. Seeing Tom Jones soon too, as far as I know his voice is still fairly unchanged.

Marc Bolan - EJ played keyboard on Children on the Revolution (RingonStarr also featured)

Oblomov23 · 26/06/2023 20:51

I am a big Brandon Flowers fan. Love him. Saw the Killers last year. Was very saddened to see him, supporting EJ. The song, Tiny Dancer was cool, but he looked odd, like he'd had too much work done.

I didn't understand a single word. Maybe because I'm 79.

Elton, in his book, describes this shoot, "We went to Holland to appear on a TV show and instead of getting us to perform, they insisted on making a film of me in a park, miming 'Your Song' into a microphone while surrounded, for some reason, by actors pretending to be paparazzi taking my photograph. They still show it sometimes. I look absolutely furious, like I'm about to punch somebody, - a fairly accurate representation of how I felt, but not really the ideal delivery for a tender ballad about blossoming love."
