Elton John Glastonbury Bingo! Suggestions..?

JemimaPyjamas · 25/06/2023 15:05

I need enough to have at least 40 (ideally).

I have, so far, numerous songs, and suggestions for who the mystery guests will be.

I also have names of people who'd potentially be mentioned or spotted (as there won't be commentary during the set, just before - it's not as easy as it is when doing, say, Royal Wedding bingo!)

Each card will have a mixture of the obvious and the not so obvious.

However, hive mind, more suggestions would be great - I have 32 so far, but can also omit some if other better one's come up. There are five of us to make cards for.

Current list is below...

  1. I’m Still Standing
  2. Legend
  3. Harry Styles
  4. Paul McCartney
  5. Britney Spears
  6. Final
  7. Promises to be different
  8. Lady Gaga
  9. First time at Glastonbury
  10. Final UK show
  11. Rocket Man
  12. Kate Bush
  13. Special Guest
  14. Royalty
  15. Honky Cat
  16. The Bitch is Back
  17. Border Song
  18. Tiny Dancer
  19. Showman
  20. Ed Sheeran
  21. Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
  22. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
  23. Candle In the Wind
  24. Your Song
  25. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
  26. I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues
  27. Dua Lipa
  28. David Furnish
  29. Collaborations
  30. Circle Of Life
  31. Sworn to secrecy

@Wellgoodforyou

M-EDZE - it's on the ground at Bristol

tobee · 25/06/2023 23:58

You don't get a scholarship aged 11 to the Royal Academy of Music for nuffin!!!

user1471556818 · 26/06/2023 00:01

His band were amazing

MissFancyDay · 26/06/2023 00:06

That was wonderful. Rocket Man was my first ever single and Crocodile Rock made me cry, I don't know why. Just thinking about when I was young. I loved it.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 26/06/2023 00:08

He’s home by helicopter AW139

Crikeyalmighty · 26/06/2023 00:09

A class act - !!

Borris · 25/06/2023 22:33

He actually sings all the songs too rather than leaving the crowd to sing. Loving him

Not sure if this is a dig a LC but if so it's a bit mean. But yeah Elton was mega :-)

Zonder · 26/06/2023 07:18

Trying to think who LC could be.

Zonder · 26/06/2023 07:18

Oh ignore me!

nowayjosephine · 26/06/2023 09:08

They said on the radio this morning that from playing his last note, jumping onto a golf buggy to take him to his helicopter to getting home in Windsor took 39 minutes! In his sparkly PJs by midnight? Class.

Air ambulance just left Pilton. Hope it’s not EJ, he didn’t look very well.

Oh my god, he looked perfectly well.

I was there too. Was the first concert I ever went to. Was called The Summer of '84 concert wasn't it?

It was. I've just been looking at some of the old pictures online. It was a lovely day too if I remember. My first stadium gig.

Sounds about right. I posted above at 23.51 just after his chopper landed. Home
before midnight.

It was fun tracking the choppers. Th one after his went to Ascot/Sunningdale - maybe other band members?

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2023 11:21

I bet he needed a cup of tea after all that!
It was a very good set
Went out on a high

AutumnCrow · 26/06/2023 11:23

Five stars in the Guardian.

JemimaPyjamas · 26/06/2023 11:49

It was tremendous!

Watching now. Liked the George Michael tribute. Thought the whole set was good. Thought his voice was poor in sections, many times the song didn't sound how it is supposed to, but he is quite old now.

HeartandSeoul · 26/06/2023 12:16

chemistnightmare · 25/06/2023 23:51

@HeartandSeoul

Rest assured, he’s flown out on his plane already (my husband follows Flightradar24 avidly and has been stalking his plane 😁)

I don't know who your husband is following on FR but EJ plane is still on the ground at Bristol.

Apologies, I was told it was his helicopter but typed plane in my comment.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 26/06/2023 12:19

It was such pure class! Just catching up on some other acts now, Cat Stevens - also absolutely amazing! What a brilliant year to have been at Glastonbury!

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2023 12:21

I'm glad he mentioned George Michael too
They had that big fall out and I think he regretted it. I can imagine he isn't always the easiest person to get on with tbf! The rocket man film showed his demons.
Love his songs though. Him and Bernie were a great team

redspottedmug · 26/06/2023 12:46

Were a great team? Are, surely?

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2023 12:50

Sorry, your right , are a great team!
He did write with others too in the 80s ( Lloyd Webber )

Crikeyalmighty · 26/06/2023 12:51

@Oblomov23 I wouldn't say it was poor - he was perfectly in tune and pitch- it just sounded different to the record because that's what happens with most people as they get to late 60s onwards. Same applies to McCartney when people criticise him- it's because it doesn't sound identical to the recorded version of 50 years previous.
