Anyone watching? I thought I’d make a thread we can drop in and out of to chat about what’s on.

Texas are playing right now. What an absolute bloody delight to see Sharleen Spiteri, looking exactly like herself at 55, giving it all. Her voice is still amazing. Rock on!

I thought the AM were great, particularly considering the laryngitis. 🤷‍♀️

I liked them too. Not sure why people are complaining

I'm going to get a Hot Chip migraine

Alex turner sounds like the pub singer off radio one in the 80s. Don’t know about Glastonbury, more like the Phoenix club. Absolutely dire, boring, I switched it off.

Very curated look re. Cuban heels and black garb.

What a pretentious twat AT is. Should have pulled out if he's that ill. The whole point of entertainment is you entertain people. That was one of the shittest performances I've ever heard.

Indiana2021 · 24/06/2023 01:20

Can't link it from You Tube, but Violet Grohl doing an Amy Winehouse cover with Dave on drums for the Hannukah sessions is well worth a watch.

GoingToBeLessRubbishAtLife · 24/06/2023 02:37

I watched some live acts on the iPlayer, but is that it? I can’t see them there any more.

I wanted to watch Ben Howard too, but he was quite early so I’m not sure if he was even filmed.

Is there somewhere we can type in the group and it’ll link us to the footage, or the radio clip?

ARareKindaBear · 24/06/2023 06:06

I saw Arctic Monkeys last time they played Glastonbury and they were amazing.
Last night was boring as hell, their new songs are terrible, no tune to them at all! We ended up turning it off.

Foo Fighters were incredible as always. Do you think back when Nirvana were at their height of fame Dave Grohl would ever have believed he would one day front a band BIGGER than Nirvana?

Looking forward to Guns N Roses tonight, saw them in London a few years ago, not the same as they were back in the day obviously but still brilliant.

Foo Fighters pulled out of Glastonbury a few years back when Dave broke his leg … he was crucified for it! People saying he should play sat down etc!!

One of the funniest replies to that one though was someone tweeting “Easy for you to say, your leg has never been broken” 😂😂😂

DH was whinging about it at the time so I text him at work saying the same thing “easy for you to say, your leg has never been broken xxx” to which he replied “yeah that’s true xxx” … joke went totally over his head 😂

Ok so my conclusion is some bands eg this one just to leave it in the era when they were best. But I even think that about the Rolling Stones. No need to keep rehashing it.

i kind of agree with you but regarding The Rolling Stones … we saw them when they played Glastonbury a few years back and they were bloody brilliant!! You would never have believed how old they all are!
What wasn’t amazing was trying to get out of that crowd to find a toilet 😂

Don't know if its a menopause thing but I was looking forward to shuffling along to I predict a riot when my daughter pointed out "wrong band mother"! I get them and the kaisers mixed up every bloody time! I will be ok with Blondie and Elton!

We saw Blondie a few years ago at Glastonbury and I said to DH at the time “I really hope they play Edge of 17”

DH said “why, do they normally cover Stevie Nicks songs?” Oops 😂

She’s called Violet? Violet Grohl is a bit Roald Dahl isn’t it. Should have run that past the baby name threads, Grohl needs something a bit stronger next to it. Bridget Grohl. Vanessa Grohl. Astrid Grohl. Or even just simple-Anna Grohl.

Gave up on Arctic Monkeys, yes they should have still performed, but they had an off-day. Pleased I have seen them live on a good day.

nowayhomer · 24/06/2023 08:44

Foo fighters absolutely smashed it, showing them how it's done ! I would've loved to have been there, it was just awesome. Artic monkeys, meh, boring as fuck

Thirty5 · 24/06/2023 10:13

I think Artic Monkeys were great in 2006, not sure I could stomach them now.

LadyVF · 24/06/2023 11:13

I’m seeing pretty meh reviews of AM today. So let’s see what today brings!

IMustDoMoreExercise · 24/06/2023 11:27

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/06/2023 22:44

I've always liked Arctic Monkeys music, but I just can't warm to Alex Turner, not sure why though.

Has anyone seen them live? Is he chatty with the audience?

Saw them last Sat at the Emirates. No, he didn't really chat at all, but they were much much better than I expected. Some of their songs aren't great on the radio, but they are so much better live.

😂 Made me LOL!

Dave ever the entertainer.. AT could learn a thing or two!

Made me laugh, the comments I've read saying "What do you expect, he's 37 not 20 anymore"

WTF? Dave Grohl is 54 and he bloody smashed it last night!

What a Glastonbury it would have been if Dave have come on during the AM set, shoved him off stage and taken over, might have made the tickets worth the price then 🤣

We AM at the Emirates last week but made sure we listened to their set list first a few times.

We didn't like their new songs at all at but after a few listens, they really grew on us and we loved the gig last week.

They should have played their more well known songs last night.

chemistnightmare · 24/06/2023 11:57

Ahah

chemistnightmare · 24/06/2023 11:58

Sorry mistake!

They were genuinely superb when we saw them the other week!

Yes, they were amazing at the Emirates last week. I only knew a few of their songs so listened to their set list a few times and now really like their new songs, but you have to listen to them a few times, as pp said, they are slow burners.

DD and I are liking Rick Astley on iplayer. Humble, self-deprecating, witty.
Together, forever then one he says hardly anyone would know fair then a cover of Harry Styles and NGGYU joke, now Cry for Help...his voice still sounds solid and the backing singers are fab.
