Just that really. What song do you want to be remembered/known for?

I’ve always said my funeral song will be Oasis, Champagne Supernova. But there are so many good ideas in this thread, I’m going to add a couple of extras. How many can you have?!

NooNooHead1981 · 23/06/2023 20:50

Maybe "Angels" by Robbie Williams would be good too, or a classical piece (but quite a tear jerker), is Meditation by Thaiis.

My DH has said he wants "Rock Lobster" 🙌😅😉🤟

Here's Where the Story Ends by The Sundays.

Beautiful song

Id either like Songbird by Fleetwood Mac or On the Nature of Daylight by Max Richter.

Id love to have something from RATM, Guns n Roses, New Order, ABBA or The Cure but I think it would be best to leave that to whoever is left to choose.

Interesting. Is a crematorium a place where the body is burnt afterwards or is it buried? Or it can be either and the word “crematorium service” is used for both?

Cremation is where the body is burnt. Most of my family/culture choose this, basically everything else is the same, except the last part. Generally people scatter the ashes, although some may choose to bury them (my grandfather was buried and my grandmother cremated so her ashes were scattered at his gravesite). I'm going to be cremated, I like the idea of my ashes being scattered somewhere where I liked. Not sure about a song yet ... maybe "Girls just want to have fun" ...

I'm having the theme to the 70s TV show Black Beauty - it's called Galloping Home.

Funnily enough I was talking about this the other day. ( joking about it actually) but I actually wrote a list,,. The kids and dsis couldn’t stop laughing… I told them I’m absolutely serious though…
I don’t want the usual ones they play at funerals ..
here’s a list I told them to use throughout… which way they choose to do it will be up to them…
these songs have been chosen based on the lyrics because I have that type of humour ☺️

every breath you take - sting
bring me to life - evanescence ( one of my fave ever songs aswell)
end of the road - boys to men
bye bye bye - nsync
somebody that I used to know - goyte
hello- Adele
See you again - charlie puth
BUry a friend - billie Eilish

No idea as to what I would like played as my body leaves the church, but I'd like Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer to be played.

We had this at my dad's, auntie's and grandmother's funerals. Perfect funeral song if you are religious imo.

My mother is having Disco Inferno (Burn baby burn). She doesn't know it yet ...

Three little birds bob marley- my daughter and I sing along to it a lot together and i would like it to be my parting message

Errolwasahero · 24/06/2023 08:36

So many great tunes on here! I like an eclectic mix and I don’t want a ‘funeral’ as I want to be there myself! So I plan to have a ‘funeral party’ to say goodbye to everyone and have a great time, then just a direct cremation (didn’t know about them so thanks) when I actually go. I also plan to let someone use up whatever is left that is useful, such as for med students or something. I hate waste!

oh and one that hasn’t been mentioned yet: 9000 miles by Mary Chapin Carpenter. It was used in the film Fly Away Home.

This poem is on my list

Everything Is Going to Be All Right

How should I not be glad to contemplate
the clouds clearing beyond the dormer window
and a high tide reflected on the ceiling?
There will be dying, there will be dying,
but there is no need to go into that.
The poems flow from the hand unbidden
and the hidden source is the watchful heart.
The sun rises in spite of everything
and the far cities are beautiful and bright.
I lie here in a riot of sunlight
watching the day break and the clouds flying.
Everything is going to be all right.
