What is the benchmark for the worst film you’ve ever seen?

Whenever you get a film that’s been rated poorly, what is the film you say “well it can’t be as bad as xxx”

Ours is Beaster Bunny. Not even my type of film. It’s one of dh’s million dollar movie craps. Except it was so bad he insisted I had to watch some of it, just so I can see how bad it was.

And it was baaaad. Like how on earth did this get released let alone even made bad.

Eyes wide shut

Em1151 · 20/06/2023 21:52

You've Got Mail. One and only time I've walked out of a cinema

ZenNudist · 20/06/2023 21:53

Bad boy bubby. Friend insisted it was the best art house film ever. I'm pretty sure at one point they cling film a dead cat and there's incest.

Also jamon jamon a Spanish art house film starring a young penelope cruz.

Truly terrible film. I saw it about 20yrs ago. 2 mean beat each other to death with hams at the end.

Refrosty · 20/06/2023 21:54

I love really good bad films.

If I were to pick a bad one that was not good, The Royal Tenanbaums. And that one with that girl and guy in a pizza shop, 'Little Italy'?

ANewAdventure · 20/06/2023 21:54

Batman vs Superman. I still begrudge the ticket price.

@Chardonnay73 a couple of my top ten have been named here too!

JPMJuliz · 20/06/2023 21:55

Human Centipede 🤢🤮

Angelofthenortheast · 20/06/2023 21:55

Everytime this question comes up on a thread everyone always says Lost in Translation or Royal Tenenbaums... Can someone say why?

My vote is for the worst ever film is the freddy krueger one where he turns the phone into his tongue and licks the girls face.

foreverbasil · 20/06/2023 21:55

The Martian....just hours of Matt Damon, poop and spuds

BridgetRandomfuck · 20/06/2023 21:56

No one’s ever heard of this, but an 80s film called The Whoopee Boys. A friend of ours said it hilarious and insisted we watch it with him. DH and I were speechless with how terrible it was - supposed to be a comedy but unfunny and actually offensive (racist and sexist stereotypes). It had Denholm Elliot in it, apparently his last film, poor sod…

Booklover40 · 20/06/2023 21:56

Agree about Cats - mind-blowingly awful.

The latest Halloween film - walked out of the cinema as were other people - utter crap. I'm a Jamie Lee Curtis fan but she's in it for literally 5 minutes.

Could only get through the first 10 minutes of LaLaLand - it's one of my ds's favourite films but I just can't watch it, it's terrible and I can't STAND Ryan Reynolds.

Also Far and Away and Eyes Wide Shut are surely both up there - again, I'm a fan of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise but these were utter turkeys!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/06/2023 21:57

Game Night.

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 20/06/2023 21:57

@Dorrmouse Tree of Life is top of
my list, too. Never-ending, self-indulgent wank. Huge sigh of relief
from the whole cinema when it finally, finally ended.

Also, a straight-to-video (I hope) Canadian film called Boulevard.

Black Swan was pretty dire but quite entertaining.

MollysBrolly · 20/06/2023 21:58

We bought a zoo - absolute load of crap followed the first Harry Potter which I got half way through and gave up - then in 3rd place any war film

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 20/06/2023 21:58

I loved Jamon Jamon!

Lost in translation- not funny, utter crap, boring in a bag full of spuds

The Royal Tenanbaums. We saw it at the cinema. Absolutely crap.

Are you kidding? One of the best films! The best Wes Anderson film certainly.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/06/2023 22:00

In the 'so bad its good' category, the Birmingham version of American Pie which was called 'Large' and stared the lady who went on to voice Mummy Pig.

NeverendingCircus · 20/06/2023 22:00

EmmatheStageRat · 20/06/2023 21:10

Noooo! It’s one of my all-time favourite films!

Me too @EmmatheStageRat . It's brilliant!

I was going to say Sex and the City. I wanted to stand up in the cinema and scream: no one cares about your shoes or your wedding venue you vacuous needy gurning baby.

Scrumbleton · 20/06/2023 22:01

Eyes wide shut - left cinema half way through

Daffodilwoman · 20/06/2023 22:01

My own Private Idaho.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/06/2023 22:02

Went to see Santa Claus 3 I think it was at cinema. Was so boring.

Drag me to Hell - wtaf.

Anything with Adam Sandler that's not Pixels. Especially shite like grownups.

And the most annoying rage inducing - Christmas with the Kranks.

AngelinaFibres · 20/06/2023 22:02

King Kong. The modern version. So so bad. And sooooooo long. You know it can't end until he's dead. He takes forever to bloody die . Husband abd I wanted to cheer when he finally died.

Booklover40 · 20/06/2023 22:02

You've Got Mail?? NOOOOOO! It's one of my favourite films, I watch it every autumn - i think it captures that "autumn/Christmas in New York" vibe so well.

Also think Deuce Bigalow is hilarious - dh and I watched it again recently after going to the cinema to see it when it came out and we nearly wet ourselves laughing!

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 20/06/2023 22:03

Nooo! My Own Private Idaho is great!

Sex and the City 2, on the other hand…

SophiaElise · 20/06/2023 22:03

Lost in Translation for me too!

Closely followed by Wild at Heart
