Tummy Tuck consultation

Been for my consult now
Still undecided, cost, pain, being in bed for 2 weeks 😩
Is it pointless at nearly 50 when everything else is starting to sag & crinkle?

Anyone else considering?
Or completed their TT journey?

I had mine done age 40. So worth it but I was in bed totally wiped out and unable to move for two weeks and in more pain than I have ever had before.

Objectrelations · 19/06/2023 22:13

And i'm totally a just get on with it sort of person and don't have a low pain threshold so do be prepared.

CoQ10 · 19/06/2023 22:15

How much was it?

How.did you find a trusted consultant? That's what terrifies me...

@TheOwlChronicles that is incredible!!

Am 51 and still seriously considering one
Just under 10 stone but it's this apron pouch that I hate

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 22:29

I was 11 stone 4 before the op and was 10 stone can't remember exactly the lbs when I weighed again just over a week later

I had what you probably would call a lot of fat on my stomach! It's wear I would carry it. So my surgeon took my incision further round my back and I also had the maximum (safe!) amount of liposuction too

No weight ever goes in my stomach now - it can't. A TT removed the fat cells

But beware! It can go other places and you can end up looking a bit like a parsnip! Grin

MissSmiley · 19/06/2023 22:31

I had mine at 35, 15 years ago, when my twins were 10 months old, my muscles were very separated, I weighed 9st at the time and my waist measurement was a size 16! Best thing I ever did, it even survived a surprise baby #5

RandomMess · 19/06/2023 22:11

I want this done but it just feels ridiculously vain.

You know what, it isn't vanity, don't think of it like that. I'd say my quality of life has upped by a good 20% - that's what it's about.

MissSmiley · 19/06/2023 22:33

And I wasn't in bed for long afterwards, two nights in hospital and I went to my brothers wedding two weeks later

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 22:33

Now this photo is a very bad angle. I showed it to my best friend and she said ' you're stomach was NEVER like that!' and i know it makes me look about 18 stone (I have never been over 12 stone 9 in my life but I'm short!)

Anyway I'm glad this is anonymous

@TheOwlChronicles I'd say I looked similar to you before and after. It's life changing isn't it.

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 22:35

@SaveMeFromForearms it really is isn't it? I used to get horrible rashes underneath my stomach and it was just so uncomfortable a lot of the time

TheOwlChronicles · 19/06/2023 22:38

@CoQ10 I just did some research to find mine. I would never ever go abroad as - for me - the risks are too great and the hiding of horror reviews is rife with surgeons in turkey etc etc

I believe I had the best surgeon in the UK so if you're based in the south east drop me a PM and I'll share who he is.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 19/06/2023 22:43

A friend had a TT in the USA at the age of 77!
As @TheOwlChronicles said, be careful with any subsequent weight gain.
My friend told me any extra pounds go on the sides.

WonderDays · 20/06/2023 08:15

I want this done but it just feels ridiculously vain.

It was nothing to do with vanity for me , it had an apron of skin that felt like it wasn’t part of me and I knew if feel better with it gone and I did.

Try not to think too much about the recovery but how much it bothers you and then decide if it’s worth it for you. Also Google pictures of similar weight women to yourself or ask the surgeon to look at some before and afters.

napsarelifewithtwo · 20/06/2023 08:46

Out of curiosity what's the ballpark figure for this?

I've been tempted after two, can shift the overhang and it just makes me feel so rubbish. But imagine I couldn't afford it.

TomAllenWife · 20/06/2023 08:49

I was quoted £7500

OP posts:
TomAllenWife · 20/06/2023 08:51

Can I post my overhang??
I appreciate most people will think it's nothing but like I said I've just lost a stone and although the rest of me is slim & toned this bit isn't

OP posts:
WonderDays · 20/06/2023 09:22

Yes please do.

I’ve been looking near me, the ones that look like they have the best results/follow up are about 10-12k. It is much cheaper abroad but I’ve heard too many horror stories. I don’t want to end up with a worse result.

Whereisthesummer · 20/06/2023 09:33

Hey not sure if you use Instagram but there’s a lady farfromfat126 who’s just had a TT and documented journey also really honest a seething questions worth a look she’s Dubai based but from UK

Aintshesweet · 20/06/2023 09:37

Wow @TheOwlChronicles you must be so thrilled, what a brilliant outcome for you. I’m so happy for you.

would you mind sharing your surgeon’s details please? Thanks!

TomAllenWife · 20/06/2023 10:01

@Moonlightsonatas please don't consider going abroad
Think about the after care

TomAllenWife · 20/06/2023 10:02

Here's my pics
He said it would be a quick superficial surgery as not much fat

TummyTuck · 20/06/2023 10:18

Name changed for my before and after photos.

TheOwlChronicles · 20/06/2023 10:30

I paid £8500 ish. This was in October 2020 so a little further back than I thought so time flies clearly! I referred a friend of a friend to my surgeon and she had it done last July and the cost was £10,800 so I'd say you're looking at that as a minimum with a top surgeon in the UK and probably 12k more likely

You'll probably pay a little less with just a 'pouch' of loose skin. Mine was really quite bad and I had an extended TT and I was borderline for a fleur de lys but it was determined that I didn't really have loose hanging skin above my stomach so I was able to obtain a good result from just a TT

The cost is split in two.. my surgeon and his anaesthetist billed about 4.5K and the remainder was the hospital stay charge
