The thing is, @TakingTime2 you can gradually fast for longer as you adjust to it.

There are Intermittent Fasting zealots who will tell you differently, but I have lost about 6 lb in five days so far, and I've cheated every day.
I also do almost no exercise because of disabilities. I do try to walk a bit every day but it's hard.

Yesterday I ate some ice cream! <<<slaps own wrist>>>

6lbs is amazing! Despite ice cream 🤣

I'm another one that has to confess to having milk in tea during my fasting time 😳. I have been meaning to get some green tea which doesn't have milk added normally, though. I know it would be better not to, and I'm not doing it for the calories but rather the taste, I just need some form of caffeinated drink to keep me energised through the day.

I tell myself that I'd probably give up on the fasting if I didn't do this.

I use skimmed milk but may switch to soya if that's fewer calories/carbs, or would almond milk be better? 🤔

You're still being healthy but you're just not actually fasting as your body has calories to use. So kind of no point if you're having milk in tea

waistchallenge · 23/06/2023 09:00

@bladebladebla1 On the contrary, there's not no point as I have lost loads of weight. I won't be subject to any kind of "diet police" or "intermittent fasting police". I don't weigh myself, either. I do what I please.

Excellent answer.

Rubbish!

The goal of fasting, for most people anyway, is to lose weight. If you can have milk in your tea and coffee because you don't like it black and still lose weight consistently why wouldn't you?

I said earlier in the thread I've lost over two stone since January, gone from 12.8 to 10.5 stone. That's drinking 4-5 hot drinks with skimmed milk every day.

If you are in a decent calorie deficit you will lose weight.

bladebladebla1 · 23/06/2023 09:29

Sorry sorry really didn't mean to offend. I shouldn't have said pointless, but it's defo not fasting if you've had milk that's all. No offence meant, apologies

Pineappletart7 · 23/06/2023 09:33

I have to walk my dog in the morning so I’m worried I would feel faint not eating until lunchtime. Do any of you exercise in the morning and how does it make you feel?

Bluebells1970 · 23/06/2023 09:34

I've always walked my dogs 1st thing on an empty stomach, never felt any effects from doing so. We walk for an hour at a brisk pace, but then my body is used to that.

waistchallenge · 23/06/2023 09:36

@bladebladebla1 No worries, you are right in your point that it's not true fasting at least. I am just very wary due to past issues about being obsessive over weight figures and dieting, in some ways don't the majority of women face these issues? It's such a slipepry slope.

waistchallenge · 23/06/2023 09:37

@Pineappletart7 You can experiment with different timings, people have different eating windows and what may suit some wouldn't suit another.

bladebladebla1 · 23/06/2023 09:39

@waistchallenge yes you're right. It's a bit ridiculous really. I am 9st so not even big but i have wobbly bits (like most) and do get a bit obsessive when I get a bee in my bonnet about losing a bit

Why are you dieting if you're 9 st?
Come off it!

bladebladebla1 · 23/06/2023 10:24

@TheShellBeach I'm really short so it's not as light as you might think, I do have fat on my bum and top of my legs and loads of cellulite. I'm not trying to do that "pls tell me I'm skinny " thing. I know I don't weigh loads but I do have fat and am not thin in any way.

Whydoesnothingwork · 23/06/2023 10:29

9st is my target! Currently 10st 9 and I'm 5ft 1 !
I was 11st 4 though so getting there.

Speaking of 9 stone etc., it's actually things like this that put me off weighing myself forever. You get so caught up in a number, when actually I now believe it's better to look at yourself in a mirror, look at how you clothes fit and how much fat and muscle there is and go off that.

waistchallenge · 23/06/2023 11:55

*your clothes

You're doing amazing! Well done

TheShellBeach · 23/06/2023 13:29

My target is 10 stone.

I know that I look good at 10 stone from previous experience.

I have a very long way to go. I have lost 7 lb since Monday, though.
The weight loss will slow down next week, though.

waistchallenge · 23/06/2023 13:36

7 pounds in five days, isn't that a bit too fast?

It's quite normal if there's a lot to lose, then it slows abit

I usually manage to lose three stone before it all goes tits up.Grin

TheShellBeach · 23/06/2023 14:11

And then I gain the three stone again and I'm back where I started dammit.
