Is everyone on MN no contact with at least one of their family?

It seems like it sometimes. As all the advice is either go NC or do something so ill-advised you might as well go NC ( like refuse to answer the door to your MIL or present your mum for a bill for food she ate or something)

I am not NC with any of my family, btw. Yet. Though if DH snores any more, I might be.

Oh I must add, it's surprisingly common how many people don't talk to their parents or siblings. I actually didn't realise how many until you start talking to people 😬

It's one of those 'MN things' because they're the topics that people start threads about and so people comment on them.

Like 'everyone' on MN having a narc ex/family, or having ADHD or ASC and/or their kids do. Or terrible MILs. Or frequently having bad experiences with 'entitled' old men or women.

It's what creates traffic. In RL I only know one person who is low contact with their family and in that instance, he's the toxic one.

I know one person (a friend) who is NC with a family member. In this case it’s her mum. Her mum made her life miserable throughout her entire teen years before throwing her out at 16 because she decided not to do A levels. 15 years later her mum turned up to her wedding and shouted abuse at her as she walked into the church. But yeah, of course people ‘over react’ and ‘do it on a whim’ 😏

My ex- friend who is toxic did over-react and did go LC with his family on a whim.

It happens.

Most people likely only go NC or LC for very good reasons. Some don't. One doesn't cancel out the other.

That's life.

Most of mine, why would I be in contact with people who don't like me. Absurd.
