Bread bun

Ukholidaysaregreat · 16/06/2023 21:37

Breadcake! Gavel! And for those saying teacake- I say a teacake has currants in. Gavel!

Tonkerbea · 16/06/2023 21:38

Oven bottom

ItsJune · 16/06/2023 21:42

Well, of course it's a breadcake.

Baneofmyexistence · 16/06/2023 21:42

Barmcake round here!

Denimdreams · 16/06/2023 21:44

BillieShears · 16/06/2023 21:23

Those who claim it's a roll, what do you ask for when you go into a cafe and want a sausage cob??

A sausage/ bacon bap.
I would be a bit put out if was served in that though.
It's too small for breakfast bap

Denimdreams · 16/06/2023 21:47

Do people really ask for a cheese and pickle breadcake?
I get cob, bap, batch instead of roll but breadcake or teacake don't make any sense.
Nothing cakey about a plain soft roll.

What is a proper teacake with dried fruit called then ?

A cob is crusty, a soft one is a roll or bap. A bun is sweet.

Spot on.

Cob. I'm in the East Mids

Yup...East Midlands...its a cob...get some cheese and onion crisps squashed into it! 😄

MammaTo · 16/06/2023 21:50

Barm cake.. A cobs more crusty 😂

Magnoliainbloom · 16/06/2023 21:54

When in Lancs, it’s a barmcake. In London, a roll.

LobeliaSackville · 16/06/2023 22:02

A roll

Thismountain · 16/06/2023 22:03

Bap. Cheesy Babs are the best

I'd call it whatever it was called in the menu 🤷‍♀️

randomjo · 16/06/2023 22:10

A bap!

Theoldgreygoose · 16/06/2023 22:10

It's a bun - a roll is longer.

WonderingWanda · 16/06/2023 22:11

Bap. Rolls have flour on. It only becomes a bun if it has icing on.

SauceForTheGoose · 16/06/2023 22:12

Barmcake

Completely agree

popgoesperfection · 16/06/2023 21:20

i'm with @newrubylane, it's a teacake!

But teacakes are sweet with dried fruit in

Robbiethedog · 16/06/2023 22:15

It's a cob

whosaidtha · 16/06/2023 22:18

Breadcake. Bread bun or bread roll. In a shop I'd ask for a sausage butty.

Tea cakes have fruit in you loons.

EyelessArseFace · 16/06/2023 22:19

It's a morning roll

Tratjymp · 16/06/2023 22:20

Scone.

Pronounced "scone," properly.
