Actually I think the limitation on meetings was 'reasonably' necessary - reasonably not thought to include leaving parties etc.

SerendipityJane · 15/06/2023 10:31

Rishi won't do anything, as he was originally appointed by Boris.

That's how corruption works.

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2023 10:35

Incredible first hand testimony - in the additional evidence bundle - from a No10 official how there were no rules enforced but they were told to behave in front of the cameras

"Birthday parties, leaving parties and end of week gatherings all continued as normal. Those responsible for the leadership of Number 10 failed to keep it a safe space and should have set rules from the start that these gatherings should not continue. It was only more than a year in to the Pandemic that Number 10 set up a one way system and desk divider screens."

IClaudine · 15/06/2023 10:45

But but, but everyone else is lying, according to Johnson.

Dorries is threatening deselections. "Any Conservative that would vote for this report is fundementally not a Conservative..."
The party of law and order.

Sunak publicly endorsed Johnson in 2019, as the only person who could save the party, and sat in his cabinet for two and half year. They lived and worked in close proximity

The party of law and order.

That virtuous Tory trait of not being able to withstand criticism or take responsibility for wrong doing isn’t really one that needs to be protected imho.

mumda · 15/06/2023 11:09

This members pass he won't be getting has raised the question of how much does entry for all former MPs into those HOC subsidised restaurants and bars cost the UK taxpayer?

https://www.parliament.uk/globalassets/documents/commons-catering/transparency/catering-services-opening-times-and-access---jul-2021.pdf

All full and yellow passholders can bring up to 6 guests for some places.

How much does that cost?

Alexandra2001 · 15/06/2023 11:12

I wonder, much like Trump, whether this report will boost Bojo's popularity?

I suspect the headlines in tomo's right wing press will be in full support of Bojo, we will see "Kangaroo court/witch hunt/hypocrisy...." just as they have turned on the Covid inquiry and the suggestion that "Brexit took up so much time, no one prepared for a pandemic....."

Alexandra2001 · 15/06/2023 11:17

Who gives a stuff whether Bojo losses his commons pass? he'll be larding it up on the international speech circuit to bother with the 'commons.

He has escaped all punishment, travesty of justice, i bet his honours list stands and he gets his PMs annual expenses too @£115k.

I hope, should Labour win, they will change the rules, so this can never happen again., no MP/PM should be able to avoid punishment by resigning, as bent coppers used to be able to do.

IClaudine · 15/06/2023 11:21

"Larding it up" 🤣

But off to bed? Good excuse

A good excuse for what? It was your turn to post, not mine - 23:17 is late enough.

And still no quote - a bigger person would say they got it wrong

I posted a brief quote yesterday - NB If you are looking at advanced search, make sure it's working for other words as well - it seems very glitchy to me. Anyway, it was more the point that you quoted a lengthy, 'holier than thou' speech from Ian Blackford on this thread, calling for Boris Johnson to resign - Blackford didn't resign in June 2022.

It's also critical thinking to know when not to bother engaging

You did the opposite - and made a mountain out of a molehill.

Look forward to your derail attempts when the report comes out tomorrow. Unfortunately I will be at work so won't be able to comment.

I am busy today as well, and this evening - I probably won't post until Friday afternoon at the earliest.

No - the point was that you talked about "a defence of Pincher"

_- I have not mentioned that and you can't find it.

Unless you misremembered?
Or someone assured you that I had?

cakeorwine · 15/06/2023 11:27

Clavinova · 15/06/2023 09:10

DuncinToffee
Have you found Cakeorwine's post you were referring to yet?

I have, yes - several times.

Kiwano
Finally you've acknowledged that the Pincher saga happened. So, without trying to divert attention to anyone else, can you tell us whether his conduct with regard to that (with particular reference to the fact that he was Prime Minister) was acceptable?

I believe I answered your question on a different thread (you had a different name then?) - I said I thought Chris Pincher's appointment was unwise/an error of judgment. No one is willing to say that Ian Blackford made an error of judgment I see. I do have to get ready to go out now.

So where are the links?

"Larding it up" 🤣

Yes, i thought it more appropriate!

Sunak also stayed in government with Johnson throughout the pandemic knowing that Johnson and 10 Downing Street were not following the rules that they were imposing on the rest of the country. I wonder if the rules were followed in Sunak's office?

cakeorwine · 15/06/2023 11:30

jgw1 · 15/06/2023 09:44

I wonder if others (JRM, Fabricant) involved in that campaign of abuse and attempted intimidation will have a reckoning as well?

It surely has to be the next step in clearing up politics.

This

cakeorwine · 15/06/2023 11:42

"Harry Cole, political editor of the Sun, has also spoken to a “senior Tory” who thinks colleagues who vote for the privileges committee report risk being deselected."

And if they don't vote for it, they may get selected but that will count against them when it comes to an election.

Cornettoninja · 15/06/2023 11:48

LOL, Nads has picked up Trumps habit of accusing people of what he’s doing Grin

Cornettoninja · 15/06/2023 11:49

Oops - forgot to add what I was talking about

Boris stands down as MP with immediate effect part 2
Cornettoninja · 15/06/2023 11:52

It does strike me that Boris has already made allusions to dark forces behind the scenes (in parliament no less). I wonder if he’ll go full Joe Rogan and tap into that very lucrative conspiracy market.

IClaudine · 15/06/2023 11:53

Maybe the gammons will storm Parliament?

OP posts:
SabrinaThwaite · 15/06/2023 11:53

Sir Charles Walker announced over a year ago that he was stepping down, so I doubt he’d be worried about deselection.

StormShadow · 15/06/2023 11:54

Nads thinks the Tories have 4 safe seats left?

DuncinToffee · 15/06/2023 11:58

Vote confirmed for Monday - Boris Johnson's birthday.

Three years since the birthday party for which he was fined.
