What's the best cheese you've eaten? I had the best Brie ever.

Dh, myself and dss (adults) were in Wensleydale recently and went to Hawes Wensleydale creamery. They have a part in the ship where you can taste loads of different cheeses.
Dh bought a brie even though we hadn't tried it. We both love all cheese.
A few days later we ate it and couldn't believe how amazing it was. So runny and delicious. The rind was too. I normally leave this. I was surprised an English brie could be so good. It's the best I've had. I know some of their cheeses have won awards not sure if that has I'll check?

What's your favourite cheese? Preferably one easily obtained. I don't think I can get this brie without being in the area? Which is probably a good thing 😉

I can’t understand why anyone eats the rind off Brie. It tastes like mothballs 🤢

Usually I'd agree. But this rind was gorgeous.

I love love love Delice de Bourgognes - you can usually get it in good cheese shops. Have to leave it a few days until it's oozy though.

Thanks I'll add that to my list.

Ooh I love cheese, blue cheese crumbled in tomato soup is lovely. I had a great soft blue cheese with grilled apricot once in a salad and that combo is mwah

There's one that is sold in Waitrose, it's Harrogate something - soooo good

Harrogate Blue. I don't like blue cheese, this is quite an orange coloured blue but OMG its divine!

hoochycrone · 12/06/2023 16:36

Caerphilly. Can't get it in England, miss it so much 😔

Doddington, from a small producer in Northumberland. Delicious. My favourite.

Cabrales - a salty blue from Spain

Anything made from ewes' milk

A German goats' cheese called Gustopher Ziegenkase. Subtle and gorgeous. Very hard to get hold of.

Funnily enough I overheard my cheese guy saying how fab the English Brie was only yesterday !

Isseywith3witchycats · 12/06/2023 17:19

the cheeses from hawes wensleydale are all fab the best thing they sell in the shop is the black cherry ice cream its lush

ThisIsTrifficult · 12/06/2023 17:22

Sussex charmer. It's a cross between a good cheddar and parmesan. Delicious on toast! Can get it in one or two of the main supermarkets.

Frith2013 · 12/06/2023 17:28

Hereford Hop.

It no longer exists.

buckeejit · 12/06/2023 17:41

I love leeds blue. Yum!

strawberry12345 · 12/06/2023 17:43

La Tur - Italian three milk tangy creamy heaven

FlickyCrumble · 12/06/2023 17:44

Colliers mature cheddar. Made in slate quarries in Wales I’m led to believe.

Eminybob · 12/06/2023 17:50

Epoisses. I've only had the one from Tesco but it is my favourite cheese by far.

JoanThursday · 12/06/2023 17:52

I still think back to the most delicious Epoisses cheese that we used to have in a now long gone French restaurant in Leeds. You could literally pour it onto the bread. Mouth is watering thinking about it.

Apart from that, another shout out for Doddington cheeses from Northumberland. Delicious.

God, I love cheese.

Stalkedbyzombies · 12/06/2023 17:53

Uk cheese is mostly ok but II would never give up French cheese for any of it.

JoanThursday · 12/06/2023 17:53

Snap, @Eminybob !
