What's the best cheese you've eaten? I had the best Brie ever.

Dh, myself and dss (adults) were in Wensleydale recently and went to Hawes Wensleydale creamery. They have a part in the ship where you can taste loads of different cheeses.
Dh bought a brie even though we hadn't tried it. We both love all cheese.
A few days later we ate it and couldn't believe how amazing it was. So runny and delicious. The rind was too. I normally leave this. I was surprised an English brie could be so good. It's the best I've had. I know some of their cheeses have won awards not sure if that has I'll check?

What's your favourite cheese? Preferably one easily obtained. I don't think I can get this brie without being in the area? Which is probably a good thing 😉

That link is less unwieldy!

Also just down the road to Baron Bigod. Had it for tea this evening along with Wookey Hole, Lancashire Bomber, Binham and Blue and something with pickled onions in it. All with Bungay raw butter as well... think that'll be my evening meal for the rest of the week!

I’m really a mature cheddar fan and if I could only eat one thing ever it would be that.
But we used to get a rambol French walnut cheese in most U.K. supermarkets but we can only buy it online these days.
We’re currently in Spain and I’ve discovered burrata. It’s delicious just with tomato and a good vinaigrette. Had it on a pizza last night too. I love cheese. We’ll be driving back via France so I’ll be checking out the French supermarket for the Rambol.

Shropshire Blue and the M&S Blacksticks Blue also faves here for me.

Can you still get Stinking Bishop? I thought it was no longer available for some reason? Happy to be corrected.

Must source Baron Bigod..

St Agur every time! Also love a roquefort. That brie sounds gorgeous OP, I never have a desert and always choose a cheeseboard

HouseInTheMiddle · 12/06/2023 20:11

Currently not far from Roquefort. We did the tour of the caves and samples after.

There is a shop after the tour, isn't there always? We bought the two Roqueforts that aren't sold outside of France. Heavenly.

Camembert. Once I've started, that's the round gone. No extras. Whole thing.

I so want one now.

A good feta in a salad on a day like this. I prefer a touch of lemon juice over balsamic.

Hungry now. No cheese here.

mondaytosunday · 12/06/2023 20:27

I wish I could remember! Really stinky runny cheese but sooooo good! I've been trying to find it since 😔.

BigcatLittlecat · 12/06/2023 20:33

Perl Wen a beautiful soft white cheese made on Wales! Like a brie, but delicious! I want some now!

TrobadoraBeatrice · 12/06/2023 20:48

Fourme d'Ambert, a really strong but also really creamy French blue. M&S sell it in tiny slivers in one of their French cheese selection packs but I can't bring myself to pay £8 just for one mouthful of it. Also like their 3 year aged Cornish Cruncher. Few things can beat a good Dutch farmhouse cheese but that's nigh on impossible to get in the UK

Thanks loving all these suggestions.

I also love Rocquefort. I would love to try the special ones only sold in France.

Agree the Kit Calvert Wensleydale is gorgeous. Hawes Wensleydale is more of a factory operation now and I dislike their range of cheese with added extras.
