Excuse the not so nice photos. Been noticing them for a few weeks now. No injury or anything. They just appear. I’ve noticed I’m really tired too lately. I have recently had 6 b12 injections for low iron so I thought it’d be the opposite but since having them I’ve found to be more tired. I also have a few on each arm and 3 on my stomach

@FreeClee you're most likely to have got the appt because the results of your blood tests are now available

My adult son had similar symptoms due to low platelets following a viral infection - his platelet level was monitored for a few weeks until they returned to normal

I’m just a bit worried because whenever my bloods have been fine in the past I’ve always had to chase them up. Also, when my b12 was low, i didn’t have an appointment for it until a week later after the results were back. This time it’s only a day😞

That could just be they want to get it sorted - perhaps you need another test in a month or something. Could just be the day the doctor had space.

It could be that your still low in iron my ferritin was low and even though I had iron tablets it didn't raise it that much. Also your platelets can go up and down which again can cause bruising.

My son has recently had a recurrence of ITP, last time he was 12, he's 42 now. Probably stress caused the recurrence, his wife died at Christmas, suddenly and unexpectedly.

They are struggling to get his platelets stable.

Pinprick red marks and easily bruising were his symptoms.

Fandabedodgy · 14/06/2023 08:36

Good luck

Hotandverybothered · 14/06/2023 08:43

My husband got a text day after blood test to contact surgery ASAP..his ferritin level was low .

Readingisgoodforyou · 14/06/2023 08:50

It can take up to 12 months to increase B12 levels to the point where no symptoms are experienced. Random bruises and bleeding gums are all symptoms.

Glad you've been checked out. Let us know how you get on today!

FreeClee · 14/06/2023 09:05

Thanks everyone! I will update when I find out what’s going on

Hope all is well OP

Over40Overdating · 14/06/2023 09:38

It could be due to your ferritin / iron levels being very low which needs to be sorted quickly. If it is something more serious they are clearly on it which is positive.

Good luck!

FloofCloud · 14/06/2023 11:16

Good luck OP, I'm sure they'll say you're low in something too, try not to fret

AllAboutTheTent · 14/06/2023 12:25

Good luck x

Allthecatsandcosyblankets · 14/06/2023 12:28

Goodluck OP and I'm glad you haven't had to wait 2 weeks that would be torture x

user50316 · 14/06/2023 12:32

I had similar and it turns out I have a blood condition (not super serious) but that causes bruising more easily.

OhComeOnFFS · 14/06/2023 12:33

I hope it goes well today.

Floofsquidge · 14/06/2023 13:03

I have bruises like this OP and I also get torn skin bruises and fatigue. I had a spate of bad nosebleeds last year and following blood tests I was discovered to be extremely low on iron & haemoglobin, high platelets, and was referred to ENT on the 2 week cancer pathway. It was terrifying but NOTHING was found so don't panic, you may have the same. A year on haemoglobin and platelets now normal but I'm still on iron tablets as my body just doesn't absorb iron properly.

nether · 14/06/2023 13:36

I hope that, whatever it is, you get a clear explanation and, if required, a sensible treatment plan

Oblomov23 · 14/06/2023 13:40

I have similar bruises. Showed GP. She was not concerned.

Same here. Took my mum til her 70s to be diagnosed despite knowing there was a weird blood thing in the family. The usual blood tests don't pick it up.

Hope all goes well @FreeClee
