Should I go to gp with unexplained bruising (pics)

Excuse the not so nice photos. Been noticing them for a few weeks now. No injury or anything. They just appear. I’ve noticed I’m really tired too lately. I have recently had 6 b12 injections for low iron so I thought it’d be the opposite but since having them I’ve found to be more tired. I also have a few on each arm and 3 on my stomach

2 weeks!? Wow that's terrible. You could always go to a walk in centre. That will get things moving sooner if they deem in necessary if not, at least you have your appointment booked.

Over40Overdating · 13/06/2023 08:32

If you are still low in iron it could be that.

2 weeks is a bonkers amount of time to have to wait. Waking up with bruises is worrying - if this gets worse or you start with any other symptoms like gums bleeding, mouth ulcers, fatigue becoming disabling then please go to a&e.

TollgateDebs · 13/06/2023 08:36

Ask for an emergency appointment, or go to a walk-in. As mentioned, it could be low platelets and two weeks is a long time to be waiting just to be seen.

I phoned back the GP this morning as a few family members said I shouldn’t be waiting 2 weeks for this. I have an appointment at 12:15

Let them know if you have been experiencing fevers or night sweats too.

FreeClee · 13/06/2023 09:48

I didn’t think to ask but I’m seeing physician associate..never heard of that before, just wondering if it means anything. Brushed my teeth earlier and my bottom gum was bleeding a little

they should have been having you back anyway for blood tests of you are on B12 injections

Rainbowsandfairies · 13/06/2023 10:05

A physician 's associate is one below a GP. I saw one a few years ago and she was brilliant. Sending you lots of good luck xx

Setting · 13/06/2023 10:09

Glad you are being seen today, the physicians associate can do bloods or get you seen by a doctor. Tell them about the nose bleed and bleeding gums and new bruises appearing daily and you’re worried. But you’re doing the right thing

Weemama1 · 13/06/2023 10:38

this was the exact same as my legs after i had my dd shes 2 now but i still get these alot, i have always been anemic through high school etc but when i went to the doctor with these bruises he checked everything blood wise and everything was fine, i get alot of mouth ulcers but no bleeding gums etc the doctor told me i was a medical mystery, so dont really know were to go from here?🙄

FreeClee · 13/06/2023 10:46

@Weemama1 Glad everything was ok. Did you feel tired, no energy etc? I wake up 6:30/7 every morning and by 10/11 o’clock I could fall asleep again

I’ve had a look at my nhs app and a telephone consultation has been arranged today…is that worrying?

No not necessarily. I have the same symptoms as you and it turned out I had low platelets- they investigated further and no action was needed. They might just want to ask you a few more questions or refer you for further investigation. Or yes not going to lie it could be more serious.

FreeClee · 14/06/2023 07:56

I’m just a bit worried because whenever my bloods have been fine in the past I’ve always had to chase them up. Also, when my b12 was low, i didn’t have an appointment for it until a week later after the results were back. This time it’s only a day😞
