For my new puppy.
I like Mabel and Ethel so far!

Have you made your mind up @ImAChChChChihuahua ?

Or you could do a poll! 😃

I'm waiting till she arrives home, not picked her up yet but I'm with you, leaning heavily to Ethel but don't think the fam will be impressed 😂

I love the name Lettice!

I love Millicent. And you can shorten it to Millie, which is lovely.

Ethel is a great name.

Thelastofbus · 12/06/2023 09:46

Millicent is great, but Mildred is better!

lieselotte · 12/06/2023 09:48

One of the women at Elizabeth the I's court was Lettice Knollys- she was quite a stirrer, IIRC

Indeed. There is a portrait at Montecute House of a redhead and the volunteers weren't sure who it is. It's not Elizabeth I, I wondered if it could be Lettice Knollys.

In fact if you had a dog, you could call him Knollys Grin

x2boys · 12/06/2023 09:55

I always wanted Peggy, but was vetoed .

ToWhitToWhoo · 12/06/2023 10:08

Names of grandmother; great-grandmothers; great-aunts:

Maud

Freda

Nancy

May

Artelle

Edith

Emotionalsupportviper · 12/06/2023 10:11

Artelle

Now that's very unusual, @ToWhitToWhoo

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 12/06/2023 10:14

That dog is most definitely going to have a bit of a don't-mess-with- me attitude.

Therefore, the most appropriate name for her is that of my late grandma - Mavis.

7eleven · 12/06/2023 10:15

Pearl has popped into my head.

Emotionalsupportviper · 12/06/2023 10:17

But if you have Mavis then you have to get a Derek, too.

(Of course, you can also argue that if you have an "Eth" you also need a "Ron" - don't ever shorten her name OP)

We definitely need a poll (which, of course, @ImAChChChChihuahua has every right to totally ignore and go with the name of her choice - ETHEL* 😁)

*Also my preference but that has nothing to do with it.

I had a tarantula named Mavis so I don't feel I can use it again, fantastic name though.
