I don't think the OP gave us her own name. It could be June, I suppose...

The first five names on your list are true old lady names in my opinion. Elaine, Fiona and Alison were very much names of girls in my class at school. One them is my name. Oh well, I guess I must be classed as an old lady myself ….

I meant no offence These are the older adult names I see in work
They're also family names which I’m fond of too
Forgot to add Fleur which I like

Ahh thanks, they are old names
The old name bounce back maybe all the Alison and Elaine’s will rise again

Violinist64 · 05/05/2025 15:15

I hope so. One of my grandmothers was called Dorothy, which is also on your list. To me, that is a real old lady's name but I believe it is coming back into fashion, which is nice. I do hope Brenda never comes back into fashion, though.

Given this thread is almost 2 years old I reckon the dog has been named already

RosesAndHellebores · 05/05/2025 15:36

Having just scratched the surface of our family trees I am amazed at how many Ann's and Elizabeths there are. The Martha's are 18th Century, a few Esther's, Hannahs and Isabels, Alice's in the 19th/20th Centuries and also the 16th. Not a single Catherine on either side but late 18th/early 19th C I was surprised to see an Aurora.
