'Have you seen the party snaps posted earlier on this thread?'

They weren't parties! I've yet to see snaps of folk dancing, clips of loud music and rowdy/ raucous behaviour y'know stuff that actually constitutes a party. Standing in a room proposing a toast to someone leaving is not a party, ditto eating an egg and cress sarnie in a meeting room. I feel sorry for your social lives if these are the type of 'parties' you attend.

Well, I would not choose to party with any of those politicians, my friends are much more interesting and lively.

Nonetheless, @Janiie, you are being pedantic. You are not coming across well in this thread.

So what are you saying?

It's not difficult -
[if] Boris deserves the credit for getting Brexit done...

But then he wouldn't have needed to try to get Brexit done if he and his colleagues hadn't chose to lie outright to the electorate over a prolonged period. And we would all be a whole lot better off now.

rainbowduck · 11/06/2023 18:43

I wish we were rid of Boris. He is an unkempt, lazy liar who believes the world owes him something due to his perceived superiority.

And... this entitlement is what leads me to conclude that he doesn't have the decency to crawl under a rock and concentrate on his family, but that he will be plotting his revenge.
Sadly.

'I'm glad you are now in agreement with the rest of the sane world that Johnson's behaviour during lockdown was illegal.'

Hmm sorry you misunderstand again, I don't agree. He was at work eating sandwiches. Shame the civil service rabble weren't better controlled by their direct managers of course. 'Illegal' Grin.

I have pointed out before on these threads that this sort of thing doesn’t happen at a tea party.

Rhondaa · 11/06/2023 18:44

'I wish we were rid of Boris'

He's resigned. It's what the thread is about.

heartsinvisiblefury · 11/06/2023 18:45

So @Janiie can't answer a question without referring to a statement from her beloved Boris.

I was asking YOU your opinion @Janiie, not for you to recommend I read lies from the toxic narcissist you love.

Notonthestairs · 11/06/2023 18:50

"He's said in his statement hasn't he. Google it it'll be there readily available to read."

Well, it's not as if he's been sacked twice for lying or anything.

Phew! Good to know one of you doesn't think a party is standing in an office eating an m&s sandwich.

I'm 'not coming across well'. Oh dear. Well, I could say the very same about most of the posters rattling on about parties when we all know they were as much a 'party' as Korma in Durham was.

pointythings · 11/06/2023 17:47

You lazy buggers. Surely you could at least manage the odd vol au vent?

To be fair during lock down one I was WFH trying to project manage the maintaining of those services we could maintain in the community, with an average work day of 10 hours with 14 hours not unusual.

The only reason I got anything to eat was that I had my DC home from uni so they could cook for me.

Many thanks to you and all like you, who made it possible for the country to keep going.

It still was an illegal gathering, but you know that and so does Johnson

Oh they were work place gatherings we all know it. 'Party' used to oust him for Brexit.

Hartman was selected to lead the Privileges Committee by MPs.
The Privileges Committee has a Conservative majority.
The Privileges Committee was directed by Parliament to conduct an investigation and the Conservatives have the majority of members in the House of Commons.
Sue Grey was selected by Johnson and when her report was published Johnson claimed it exonerated him.

Yep.

But some posters won't let the truth or evidence get in the way!

And if there was no wrong doing to be found the privileges committee couldn't have reported any wrong doing. And as we haven't seen the report we don't yet know if they found any wrongdoing as Johnson said he's innocent.

So actually all we have is questions.

Why did Johnson say the privileges committee are out to get him? He must surely know they are duty bound to solely report the truth as evidence.

If there was no evidence of wrong doing why does he think they were out to get him?

And if there was no evidence and therefore the report will exhonerate him why did he resign?

The man can't even lie honestly 🙄

Ketchuponpizza · 11/06/2023 19:00

Potato, potato.

You really are splitting hairs.

So, we get it. You love Boris. You are in the minority.

He quit (the statement was sulky and mean spirited) before he was pushed. We all know it.

The man is a sleazy horrid toad who was astounded that the general public didn't swallow his lies.

I wish someone had padlocked the fridge he hid in. Coward.

Better in for the Oxford English dictionary their definitions of a party are all wrong then.

Even if the civil servants at the time were "rabble", who was the Minister for the Civil Service at the time? 🤔 Think hard, now.

Yes you should as you're clearly unable to debate with me. It's funny you instruct folk to 'ignore them!' etc on other threads then post a gif specially for me 🤔.

VimtoVimto · 11/06/2023 19:24

I worked all through the pandemic in an admin role (unable to work from home) for a company that was deemed essential. In Christmas 2020 we were not allowed to share the customary tins of Celebrations as we were told it was against the guidelines. We were also not allowed to share food or make each other drinks. It was a shock to realise those in power didn’t have the same restrictions.

Dymaxion · 11/06/2023 19:28

He stepped down as PM for something else though ? And he ousted himself by resigning as an MP, he clearly didn't have any confidence that the Conservative party would support him, either on a local or national level.

@janie
I am sure the Met Police would be interested in the evidence you have that the gatherings of people (commonly known as parties) that Johnson attended were in fact simply one person eating at their desk as the law permitted.

How come you have the evidence that no one else does?

Crikeyalmighty · 11/06/2023 19:33

@Janiie The problem is because it's going way back when ---everyone seems to forget the Allegra Stratton video-it's quite clear from her comments there was an Xmas party and she was thrown under a bus. Whether he was in attendance or not it was in Downing St at the time and the buck stops with the PM in a situation like that. No way was he totally oblivious. Then of course we have the fact he was inviting people round to Chequers (not in a political capacity) and yet making sure any politician who met up with anyone on a personal level but didn't live with them ended up suspended-

If the Queen had to stick strictly to the rules set , then Johnson had no reason not to either.
