My daughter’s mortgage is increasing by £400.00 a month in September they have two young children her husband did get a pay rise but not enough to keep up with this increase without factoring in food prices etc.
we are able to help them with various expenses, I feel for those who have are really struggling meanwhile these fuckwits argue amongst themselves & yet again fail the country every bloody day, they are monstrous cess pit of incompetence.

Notonthestairs · 14/06/2023 12:59

I think Labour are going to inherit an absolute clusterfuck which will need years to undo. Nothing in the country is running as it should. Plus Labour won't have the back up of large swathes of the media to set out their plans. Not to mention voters with short memories who are sold the lie that you can lower taxes and simultaneously improve public services.

Im sure if Johnson fancies it and can get himself elected he can sell a load more bullshit and around we go again.

Please God you’re wrong @Notonthestairs. My consolation is that millennials seem to be bucking the trend of becoming more right wing with age. Hopefully the legacy this lot leaves will linger on in their memories for a very long time. And Labour will manage some quick wins.

TokyoSushi · 14/06/2023 13:39

I think you're right @Notonthestairs I have a feeling we haven't seen the back of Johnson yet. It does feel a bit like we're going to be fcked for a long time yet.

We're on the second month of paying our new mortgage which has gone up by £389, it would have been rubbish but manageable except there has been a screw up with DH's tax code and his wage was also £400 down. It's been a very tight & boring month.

Highly likely.

I was thinking the other day that one possible advantage Starmer has is lower expectation from the public. Unlike Tony Blair maybe, where it was New Labour and Blair was a new type of PM. Starmer is Not Johnson and Not Tory. Bit like Biden is Not Trump.

tobee · 14/06/2023 16:32

"I think you're right @Notonthestairs I have a feeling we haven't seen the back of Johnson yet."

Hmm I think Johnson definitely thrives in giving the impression he could come back as saviour to the world at any time. But I think it's a whole lot less likely than Trump.

tobee · 14/06/2023 16:34

"Highly likely."

To clarify, meant the first part of @Notonthestairs post

Notonthestairs · 14/06/2023 17:01

I hope I'm wrong. Who really wants to volunteer to spend 5 years in opposition?

But then in opposition he'd do even less work but still have an opportunity to garner headlines.

If we are fortunate he'll just churn out Op Eds for the Telegraph and occasionally turn up on LK's Sunday programme to waffle about how the Conservative Party is a mess without him.

Leader of the Opposition, especially if you might be doing it for years, is a lot of work without any guarantee of success at the end. I don't see Boris signing up for that. Too much graft for not enough recognition or clout. You don't get to go to the summits.

He might be up for being an Opposition backbencher again maybe. A regular salary, shouldn't interfere too much with his holidays and affords him the opportunity to throw shade without there being any risk of him actually having to do anything.

tobee · 14/06/2023 17:55

No I do not see him as a backbencher on the opposition benches. He was barely seen as a backbencher on government benches after all. Far too demeaning. Like it would have been to face a commons vote on the committee findings and possible recall vote.

We can tell from his spending that he has a liking for the trappings of high office. He lives way beyond his means. And attaining the office of pm was similarly way beyond his actual ability to do the job.

Sure, before pesky covid came along, to scupper his plans, he expected to be PM in perpetuity.

Blossomtoes · 14/06/2023 18:05

I can’t see CCU approving him to stand for a seat anyway. I imagine they’ll be delighted to see the back of him.

"Major fallout over @GuidoFawkes story

Tory MP says: "Boris will be opening his little black book and trying to cast aspersions elsewhere. He would burn parliament to the ground around him."

Another says: "We’re not far off him asking Bridgen for his tin foil hat supplier."

twitter.com/breeallegretti/status/1669013518073442305?s=46&t=Uw4lJNwxFZFnX0Xs3doHYg

Edifying isn't it?

The Guido Fawkes story is that he too broke lockdown. Didn't lie to Parliament about it as far as I am aware. But never let reality get in the way of whataboutery.

Presumably to go after others for breaking lockdown laws, Johnson has to accept that he did. I fear for his fans brains if that occurs.

RafaistheKingofClay · 14/06/2023 19:22

Don’t see where Johnson comes back from this though. He couldn’t find enough Tory MPs to challenge Sunak for leadership last September. And so far only 2nmps have resigned in support of him. And one of those hasn’t actually resigned yet.

It's not good is it when you put it like that !

Do we think Nads knows she hasn't resigned?

She's not sure what to put in her letter...

I think "she's not sure" just about covers most things where Dorries is concerned!

Dorries explains

https://twitter.com/NadineDorries/status/1669060242552811520?s=20

There is much speculation about the time at which I become appointed the bailiff of Northstead Manor, as part of the arcane resignation process when standing down as an MP.

IClaudine · 14/06/2023 20:29

God, she sounds really paranoid. How will she feel when the evidence she is given all points to Johnson stringing her along?

MrTiddlesTheCat · 14/06/2023 20:30

She's not going anywhere is she.
