What random/less obvious things do you find attractive in someone?

I don’t mean weird stuff; I just mean little things that make you notice someone you might not have noticed before in a “ooh, that’s hot!” kind of way.

Talking with a friend earlier about this - hers was someone being able to speak another language fluently, mine was someone who has a hidden talent they are modest/low key about (bonus points if it’s playing a musical instrument!)

In males, the way they respond to my dogs, and the shape of their legs !

TeeBee · 07/06/2023 15:59

If they're good at their job.

onefinemess · 07/06/2023 16:39

"Oblivious kindness" at least that's what I call it.

When someone does something really kind/nice/respectful without even thinking about it.

Two examples.I can think of.

Walking around work with a new colleague, his second day on the job, one of the cleaners crossed the lobby in front of us. As they did so, they dropped one of the empty cardboard boxes they were carrying. My colleague scooped down, picked up the box, and carried it to the bin for them. He was introducing himself to cleaner as they walked across the hall together. He's always doing stuff like that, hes just genuinely bloody lovely and friendly, with EVERYONE. A lot of the staff ignore the cleaners because they don't technically work for us, they're contractors, which I know might sound like a really low bar in terms of niceness, but where I work it stood out.

Other time was a an old boyfriend of mine, he fell over and twisted his ankle while we were walking along the pavement. The reason? He was trying not to step on a ladybird he just spotted on the ground as we were walking along.

I also find it a little fruity when I see a man reverse a car while looking over his shoulder with one arm balancing on the back of the passenger seat. No idea why, think it's "competency porn".

sunshinethrough · 07/06/2023 17:11

“Competency porn” 🤣🤣 - this is definitely a thing isn’t it!

The fact that my future husband spoke French about as well as I could, and was keen to improve, and read Paris-Match, and had a Mylène Farmer cassette, were very appealing to me, but he could still have been a twat (he isn't).

Hbh17 · 07/06/2023 17:17

I rather like it when someone has a good line in bone-dry sarcasm.

SiblingFights · 07/06/2023 17:18

Definitely the arm on headrest reversing, bonus points for rolled up sleeves.

Kindness is a big one for me. I clearly remember early on in our relationship DP crushing empty tins of tomatoes before putting them in the recycling as he had read about wildlife getting their heads caught in them and getting stuck. It made me want to jump his bones.

He's also not an animal fan at all, but opens the door (that's has a fully functioning cat flap in it) because the cats wait for him to do so every morning.

Redhenwattle701 · 07/06/2023 17:27

I like it when big burly monosyllabic chaps talk very tenderly to their dogs. 😀

Izzabird · 07/06/2023 17:29

Observant-ness (observancy? what is the noun for someone being observant?) and an excellent memory. Being very good with language, right down to the level of the briefest text message. Nice temples, and soft little tucks at the corner of the mouth.

SquashPenguin · 07/06/2023 17:30

When the edge of the sleeve on a tshirt is snug on their biceps. Or when you can just about see tattoos through a white shirt. They’re what I noticed on my partner before we got together.

user1471538283 · 07/06/2023 17:34

I love it when men talk to animals! My ex used to have long running conversations with our dog! "So how have you been today?"

anormalperson · 07/06/2023 17:34

Being really good at football. Not sure why it's just football and not other sports but my attraction to a person doubles if I find out / witness that they're a great footballer

Ageingweightlifter · 07/06/2023 17:38

politeness to strangers that's not forced but natural; or trying to impress.

LaMaG · 07/06/2023 17:40

Being well read, but not obnoxious about it. Playing a musical instrument. And a charitable nature, like someone who is concerned about people they don't know or in different circumstances. DH would drive me mad stopping to offer to buy food to every homeless person but what a lovely quality. Also a really childish sense of humour sometimes is so charming!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/06/2023 17:49

Not me, but a dd - when her future dh didn’t think she was completely bonkers to save wasps and other wigglies from drowning in the swimming pool.

A former BF had thought she was off her head. ‘Why? Maybe he want to suicide himself!’ 😂 (He was Italian)

Rattymare · 07/06/2023 18:07

Wearing a good fitting pair of jeans tucked in Rigger boots 🤭

FinallyHere · 07/06/2023 18:17

I am such a sucker for a well timed, clever joke, especially if potential 'he' and I are the only ones that get it, that's swoon worthy enough.

If he can also partner dance and lead properly (by following the follower ) goodness it's suddenly so hot in here

Yes! Mine does this too, in 2 different languages depending on his mood I guess! The cats ignore all of it, which I suppose is typical 😁

Pollypetide · 07/06/2023 18:21

Forearms. Being stronger than me. Doing DIY effortlessly. Making me laugh.

Spanielsarepainless · 07/06/2023 18:24

Nice shoulders and forearms.
I find rolled-up shirtsleeves very erotic, but not short sleeves.

Newtothisanddonunderstand · 07/06/2023 18:28

Remembering things/details about me. It is amazing how much time you can spend with a guy who never even asked your surname, or whether you have siblings.

coxesorangepippin · 07/06/2023 18:29

Vertically striped shirts

I agree with this and the real niceness, I find that so attractive. Not the fake put on niceness where the guy tells you constantly how nice he is, how he’s ‘too nice’ and almost always refers to himself as a gent.

Xrays · 07/06/2023 18:36

If they’re a good dancer or even if they’re not a good dancer but they’ll have a try and know how to laugh at themselves having a go. I like people who like to have a go at stuff.
