I would be very disturbed by someone who arranged their books by colour, although I can’t quite put my finger on why!

I think it smacks of the books being for show, rather than for actual reading. If they were for reading or reference, they'd be grouped according to author or subject.

My books are, of course, impeccably organised. The most recently read are on top of the teetering pile by the side of my bed, the most recently purchased but not yet read are in a pile by the sofa.

MapofVenice · 07/06/2023 15:00

No way on this earth anyone’s paying 26k a month for that!

astarsheis · 07/06/2023 15:01

my minimalist brain cannot compute that interior. Makes me feel quite uncomfortable...however I could clear that no problem and would live there quite happily.

Muncha · 07/06/2023 15:01

I love the garden but the freezing looking tin bath send a shudder through me.

People who are doing up their own house or sent over on a limited time contract. I can recall another famous person's house very near to theirs that is rented out that way.

Yep would only make sense for short term lets. To oligarchs.

Books sorted by colour. Just dreadful.

That was the ONLY thing that made me really twitch!

And weirdly, unless I'm mistaken they are all almost all travel books that are colour coded. That DOES make it slightly less awful, as it makes more sense to have all your lonely planets next to each other, all your bradts next to each other, all your rough guides all together etc etc to a certain extent. (However there are lonely planet blue books on various different shelves).

There's overkill on the distressed wood effect and a few too many patterns, which I think adds to the cluttered feel - but I really don't think it is. I think the wood makes it feel smaller than it is. As do the large about of pictures and unlimited colour pallet.

As for the 'cosy, homely feel', its definitely taking personal elements but I don't think its homely. Its too ordered and deliberate to be homely. It screams professional interior design job. You can't imagine it being 'lived in' and there ever being a box full of lego tipped everywhere or kids leaving shit everywhere. Its still a show home not an actual home. Where's the kids books? It doesn't fit. If they moved somewhere else last year it does make more sense - but why keep the house for so long and with all the knicknaks still there either???

@martha4clark it's def his house. I live close by. Used to do my post run stretching on his front wall 🤣
😳😳😳 at the rental cost!

It costs more to rent that for a month than my first house cost to buy.

pontipinemum · 07/06/2023 14:59

I'm in shock at the price 26k per month!!

I know!

It is artificial grass, but you couldn't have real grass with that amount of tree cover. it's entirely in the shade, and I do like the trees. I guess stone or gravel (or both) would be preferable to plastic grass but real grass wouldn't be an option.
North Kensington does not 'sound posh' it's where Grenfell tower is. I used to work for an organisation that dealt with poverty and exclusion and North Kensignton was a target area. Hence I'm surprised at the cost to rent this, even if it is a very nice big house (decor aside).

User18540964 · 07/06/2023 15:04

It doesn't look homely at all, it's too contrived

denimdonut · 07/06/2023 15:05

312k a year!!! Fuck me

denim1700 · 07/06/2023 15:05

It's basic. The books sorted by colour, the kitchen letter sign, midcentury furniture, fake distress/'shabby chic', vtg Brit look mixed with exploration/colonial vibe, clashing colours & prints, vtg British product shop signs, bunting but with a twist, vtg tourism posters and maps, hobbies as decor (was that skis?), model boats, mr and mrs sinks... could go on. Surprised there's no "X place is always a good idea" sign.

There are probably more clichés but it was too horrible to look at. Shocked by the artificial grass! There's a way to artfully clash and that's not it. Clocked the few photos of family anywhere but framed dog pics and shit art are in abundance. That always makes me automatically side eye a person. 😆I know that's ridiculous!

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/06/2023 15:07

Nope. Not for me albeit I’d love to own a house worth that much. However, I prefer my home by a country mile!

LakieLady · 07/06/2023 15:07

NextTimeItsOver · 07/06/2023 14:17

That's what happens when you go to Homesence without a budget 🫤

😂

Do they sell those blue fireplaces in Homesense, too?

The tiles on those remind me of public toilets.

Seeleyboo · 07/06/2023 15:07

One word. Dusting

Mirabai · 07/06/2023 15:09

greenday30 · 07/06/2023 14:57

It's very definitely North Kensington. We live in Notting Hill but I can say there's absolutely nothing wrong with his neighbourhood. I'd say an average-for-the-neighbourhood 4 bed terrace would set you back somewhere between 3-5 million, and one of the big houses over on St Quintin or Cambridge Gardens closer to 10.

Still think their rental price is overly ambitious, though.

It’s very definitely Wormwood Scrubs, re-branded North Kensington. Don’t mess with a born and bred West Londoner. (And don’t fall for estate agent shtick).

FrustatedAgain · 07/06/2023 13:49

Definitely looks like it's theirs

It look exhausting to live in to me, there's too much going on. A house I'd love to visit but not live in!

Article refers to AstroTurf lawn, surprised at Ben, thought he would have preferred natural

LakieLady · 07/06/2023 15:11

Belmondo · 07/06/2023 14:22

@Mutabiliss you're bang on, it's very much of a type!!

My thoughts were:

  1. Foglest house ever
  2. AstroTurf WTF
  3. Is that one of those tellies that masquerades as a framed "work of art" in the master bedroom?!
  4. Colour-coded book people are loons
  5. Terrible kitchen, absolutely terrible
  6. Even posh people have Words on Walls...

I'm posh. I've got big gold letters in my bathroom.

They spell out "shit here" above the toilet.

Seconded, speaking as someone who had both her babies at Hammersmith Hospital 🤗

Not a fan of the artificial grass , I’m actually shocked at that.

Me too. Seems to go against his eco ethics.

Books sorted by colour. Just dreadful.

😂 I do this too.

Pooterlie · 07/06/2023 15:13

Those interiors are my worst nightmare.

ssd · 07/06/2023 15:13

I like it but its definitely a posh persons house. Posh people don't give a shit.

Moonandstarz · 07/06/2023 15:14

I follow Marina Fogles Instagram, it seems they moved to the country a couple of years ago.. The photos on her new Instagram home are quite a similar eclectic style... I really like it especially as it depicts their travels. I'd imagine country life really suits them, Marina & the children are very into horses judging by her Instagram. Seem like a lovely, happy family..
