Roller boots, the blue suede ones with the yellow wheels, I remember wishing on a fairy for them aged about 8, fairy being one of those seed things similar to dandelions that float by in the summer. I didn't get them, I got very practical skates that were size adjustable and I could wear my shoes with, they were rattly and unsteerable and shit.
I bought myself the roller boots 3 years ago age 40, my father, rest his soul, would probably approve.... now that my feet have stopped growing Grin

I think you are me (other than I never bought myself any, I can break bones tripping over thin air 😄). All three of my best friends had the roller boots and I had the rattly flattened tin cans on wheels.

Mr Frosty, of course. And an A La Carte Kitchen which I wanted to make Swiss roll and baked beans on.

And one of those long puppies. Hush Puppies?

Sudename · 06/06/2023 17:08

When I was about 10 I was mad for a child's typewriter as I had dreams of becoming a best selling author. Never got one though. A classmate did and I was so jealous!

tailinthejam · 06/06/2023 17:16

It wasn't a toy I yearned for as a child, it was a pony.

Took me until I was 28, but I got there in the end!

dodobookends · 06/06/2023 17:26

@KohlaParasaurus I wasn't allowed a chopper bike either. Still annoyed about that.

Was it a pound puppy? Some had babies inside them!

Jaxhog · 06/06/2023 18:17

Mechano. My dad wouldn't let me have it because I was a girl.

Naimee87 · 06/06/2023 18:19

The pink Barbie car you could sit in and drive. My best friend had one and i loved it… to this day i think the reverse parking i did in that little car paved the way to my career today!

Mr Frosty

The Cadbury chocolate dispenser, with an endless supply 😋

I had this! Not the endless supply but the thing itself. It was legitimately thrilling to receive and own, but once the chocolate runs out… well, it’s important to introduce children to disappointment.

Girls' World. I don't think it was a feminist thing on my parents' part, more of an anti-make-up thing. That's if it ever occurred to them, of course - looking back, I don't think I even bothered asking because I suspected it would be no.

Roller skates. My dad considered them far too dangerous (apparently he took back to the shop the ones his mum had bought for my sister).

I'd never heard of Mr Frosty before coming on Mumsnet. When did it come out? Mind you, we didn't have a tv so I wouldn't have seen any adverts

Dolls' house.

I was always told my bedroom was too small, which was insult to injury as not only did I have the smallest bedroom, but because of that I wasn't allowed a dolls' house. Neither my siblings wanted one.

I used to make rooms in boxes and on shelves.

Tanktanktank · 06/06/2023 21:03

A dolls house. My DH bought me one when I was 23. I loved it, have three in total now. 60 next big birthday.

I had Katy copy cat. Don’t think it was that good. Her arms were all floppy.

Stretch Armstrong- no idea why

Deathraystare · 07/06/2023 07:21

A tiny tears doll. God knows why! From what I saw and heard they always had to be mended (arms came off!).

Also Sylvanian family, though (blush) I was not a child when I discovered them!!!

Deathraystare · 07/06/2023 07:24

@tanktanktank

My Dad made me one! It was lovely. Had lights in it and was decorated.

lollipoprainbow · 07/06/2023 07:27

Sindy house, my spoilt friend had one and wouldn't let me touch it !!

lollipoprainbow · 07/06/2023 07:30

I covered the Cadbury's chocolate vending machine and actually got it for Christmas! ! I found it wrapped in my parents wardrobe and tore some of the paper to reveal it. I can still remember the joyous feeling.

Pound Puppies! They did ones that had babies inside I think. I had a single smaller one that had a heart shaped patch.
