Not a toy, but I always wanted red shoes.
My mother told me only harlots wore red shoes.

First thing I bought with my wages in a Saturday job was a pair of red shoes.

A Glo worm.
A Keyper, those animals with a key which opened up a secret compartment.

I never got them 😥

Oh I remember the Glo worm! With the light up face? My friend had one. It wasn't all that

Pedal car

SunburstsOrMarbleHalls · 06/06/2023 12:32

A Sindy Dream House or Sindy Super Home

My friend had one and I was green with envy.

Sindy doll with loads of clothes.
Tiny Tears doll.
But they were considered common so I didn't get them.

I must be common as muck then because I had both 🤣

Ooh, I had a few Finders Keypers! The snail, rabbit and penguin I remember.

That's the one my sister had!

Coolblur · 06/06/2023 12:57

One of those higghly annoying little yapping puppies that flipped. I bought DS one, then realised why I was never allowed one as a kid!

AdaColeman · 06/06/2023 12:59

A Meccano set!
The lad next door had a huge amount of it, which I deeply coveted.

ShortColdandGrey · 06/06/2023 13:34

I really wanted a Wuzzle toy or one of the get a long gang. One of my friend had a few off the Get a long gang stuffed toys with the roller skates. Santa did bring me one of the wee plastic figures but it wasn't the same. I did have a glow worm through that I loved :)

I so badly wanted one to hug at night 😂

Barold · 06/06/2023 13:40

Mr Frosty. I'm still not over it. And don't think I ever will be.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/06/2023 13:43

I coveted no toys, I was much more into animals and longed painfully for a puppy.
Never did get one until I was long grown up.
The DPs did buy me a tortoise, though. 🙂 Timmy was much loved.

yorkypuds · 06/06/2023 13:51

Still want a cabbage patch kid!

Hohofortherobbers · 06/06/2023 13:52

Roller boots, the blue suede ones with the yellow wheels, I remember wishing on a fairy for them aged about 8, fairy being one of those seed things similar to dandelions that float by in the summer. I didn't get them, I got very practical skates that were size adjustable and I could wear my shoes with, they were rattly and unsteerable and shit.
I bought myself the roller boots 3 years ago age 40, my father, rest his soul, would probably approve.... now that my feet have stopped growing Grin

beachcomber70 · 06/06/2023 14:10

A scooter. Not allowed one as it would make one leg longer than the other - apparently!

A tricycle. Never had one, too expensive I expect.

But I did have roller skates and had hours and days of fun on them.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/06/2023 14:16

A chemistry set and an electronics kit. Only got girl stuff.

ZacharinaQuack · 06/06/2023 14:17

I didn't covet any specific toys, but I really wanted a shell suit. My mum said I couldn't have one because they were a fire hazard.

Thebigblueballoon · 06/06/2023 14:22

My fiancé is still to this day angry with his parents for not buying him a Mr Frosty. He brings it up every Christmas in a joking way. But I can see the flicker of resentment. I’ve decided I’m getting him one for Christmas as a joke.

I always wanted a Dream Phone and I was desperate for Dorothy’s sparkling red shoes. Never got those ones.

I did, however, get that massive Polly Pocket enchanted castle set that lit up. And after endless begging, my mum bought me a pair of those Clark’s magic shoes - the one with the key in the sole and you could unlock a secret wee chamber. They were the coolest thing ever. I think I’d still wear them to this day!

AppleCinnamonBagel · 06/06/2023 14:23

A train set or Meccano.

Instead I had Girl's World and Pippa dolls. I bought my own train set once I was 30 and settled in my first house.

ShakeYourFeathers · 06/06/2023 14:29

One of those heads which you could practice hair and make up on

ShakeYourFeathers · 06/06/2023 14:31

Tessisme · 06/06/2023 07:22

It was a Girl's World for me too. I would have been a terrible hairdresser and beautician anyway, going by my current unkempt appearance🤣

I also wanted a skateboard, but can't remember why I didn't get one.

Oh I didn't know they were called Girls World ... one of those then

Soporalt · 06/06/2023 14:37

A chemistry set. DM clearly thought I'd blow the house up.

That Sindy house is way nicer. I think 8 year old me had her head turned by Barbies lift.
We had The Millenium Falcon, and it was AWESOME! Everyone loved it, boys and girls of every age. And the snow monster thingy with belly flaps that Luke hid inside of so he wouldn't freeze. Extra points for gross ness.
