What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

Soubriquet · 04/06/2023 15:47

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

@00100001 my science teacher had a poster of the Mountie on the door to the prep room!

thefemaleJoshLyman · 04/06/2023 17:39

There was a programme called TV 101 set in an American high school in the 1990s. One of the characters was played by a very young Matt Le Blanc. I've never met anyone else who watched it but I loved it - there were two characters Vance and Penny who were a couple at the end who I thought were amazing.

pigalow27 · 04/06/2023 17:44

I have so many of these - many going back many years as I am getting on:
Soap with a young Billy Crystal - manic comedy satire on soaps
Nightingales - surreal comedy about night security guards with Robert Lindsay;
Flamingo Road
Eldorado - bloody loved it!

mbosnz · 04/06/2023 17:45

I have the whole of Due South on Plex!

To whoever mentioned 'The Henderson Kids' I'm forever in your debt - I've been tracking this down for decades!

Okay, who remembers 'The Littlest Hobo'? I'm guessing only Antipodeans.

Follyfoot Farm, anybody? What about The Famous Five?

Seaforth-a tv series in the nineties with Linus Roache playing a jack the lad. I loved it and would love to see it again. Also The Water Margin-a series set in ancient China about a gang of bandits-really good fun. No one else I know remember these.
I loved Blake’s 7 though.

Yes remember this

And yes we have no Bananas

Rummikub · 04/06/2023 17:38

I loved Dark Angel. No one I know watched it. And I can’t find it anywhere to rewatch it.

Liked Roswell, the 100, under the dome.

A kids cartoon with a red rocket and a great theme tune. But can’t remember what it was called.

Ultimate favourite which only the odd few I knew watched - Torchwood.

I have them all on dvd. I’m glad I do now cos I can’t find it anywhere on tv

I've never met anyone who watched Mad Death, 1980s TV series about an outbreak of rabies in the UK.

Also Living In The Past in the 1970s where a group of people live 'in' the iron age for a year.

It started with family smuggling a dog back from France.
it was gripping!

American mini-series screened over the summer holidays - Rich Man, Poor Man, once an Eagle, Scruples

BreakfastClubs · 04/06/2023 17:47

I remember The Littlest Hobo and I'm British. I thought the show was Canadian though?

Stomacharmeleon · 04/06/2023 17:49

I remember...
My mum watching 'the Sullivans' an Australian soap set after ww2 I believe.
Chokkablock as a very small child.

My sister is 10 years younger than me and watched dog and duck... I am sure one was voiced by Keith chegwin and Rosie and Jim.
She also liked 'Dilly the Dinosaur' on CBeebies with busy lizzy. I can still recite the theme tunes to both off by heart at 45.

My brother and I were not allowed to watch itv and I was so jealous I wasn't allowed to watch ' your mother wouldn't like it'

But I did love superted, Johnny briggs and the box of delights on bbc1.

Rummikub · 04/06/2023 17:49

@Soubriquet lucky, never get rid! I loved Joshua in it.
I look regularly for it but no joy.

BreakfastClubs · 04/06/2023 17:50

Does anyone remember the documentary series "Jimmy's"? It was about St James' University Hospital.

TheSproutOfWrath · 04/06/2023 17:50

A film called 'The Human Race'. It was so terrible it was good! Also 'To the Lake'.

mbosnz · 04/06/2023 17:50

The Littlest Hobo was Canadian - I didn't think it played over here! I've never met a Brit who knew it, but at any Antipodean meet up, we'd all end up singing the theme song!
