What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

Does anyone remember Tenko?

This had a big impact on me. It was one if the first adult shows I watched and the first time I truly realised that life wasn’t/hadn’t been all sweetness and light for everyone, that had been my life until then.

Just looked on You Tube there was a remake of Belle and Sebastian but the original black and white one was made in the 1960s and it was filmed live!
The opening song is still very haunting and sweet.
The boy Sebastian was 6 at the time of filming.

The Lives and Loves of a She Devil … Patricia Hodge and a posh- talking Dennis Waterman, living in a lighthouse… quite a strange series.

The Box of Delights, from around late 1984 …. Was on childrens tv but it was very dark and scary!

Ma ry Fisher.

Gingernaut · 09/06/2023 02:22

Shoestring
The Chinese Detective

Snog Marry Avoid

Something with Tamzin Outhwaite where she works at a utility company and starts committing fraud and has an affair then runs away on a ferry but her lover doesn't turn up

Ilovetea33 · 09/06/2023 02:36

The boy Sebastian was actually the writer's son.

thepetrellies · 09/06/2023 03:20

'Profit', a 1990s US series starring Adrian Pasdar. It was about a sociopathic company VP, who slept in an oversized cardboard box (in his luxury apartment).

BreezySunnyDay · 09/06/2023 07:49

Has anyone mentioned Follyfoot Farm and Lizzie Dripping? That's reaching right into my early childhood 😂
Lizzie Dripoing seemed very mysterious and atmospheric but it probably wasn't! Vaguely remember her wandering around a graveyard though?

I remember a Scandinavian version of Cinderella - on horseback, in snowy woods , and some golden acorns?

Loved this. It was called Three Wishes for Cinderella.

Radi0liverpool · 12/06/2023 11:22

What about Dappledown Farm?

Catlord · 12/06/2023 11:29

Follyfoot farm the tv series was before my time but I loved the books! I quite fancy some retro horsey telly though now- was anyone famous in it??

What about Dappledown Farm?

I mentioned that one upthread. Just you and me, I think!

Columbus was my favourite. Count’em count’em count’em.

LindorDoubleChoc · 12/06/2023 20:43

Prisoner Cell Block H! I was addicted in the early 90s. It was on quite late at night I think on C4.

Elderflower14 · 12/06/2023 20:46

Clarence with Ronnie Barker.
Cover Up with the late and gorgeous Jon Erik Hexham.
Also an obscure Australian ( I think) programme with a man and woman interspersed with Elvis Presley songs!!

Elderflower14 · 12/06/2023 20:47

Also Kizzy based on Rumer Goddens The Didakoi..

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/06/2023 20:50

Mega Obsure Programme here , and I didn't dream it because my Mum used to talk about it too .

Probably early-mid 1970s .
There was a narrator and a playroom with a dapplegrey rocking horse .who could talk.

The stories he narrated , involved a Princess who would wake up after dreaming about a cake.
The cook/chef had to then create it (or she'd have him head chopped off)

One time he made a chocolate cake . Not right
He made a coffee cake . Not right .
In fear of his life he made a mocha (coffee/choclate) and by jove , he did it .

The narrator created the cake and they all tried it .
The rocking horse would say at the end What-About-A-Slice-For-Me ?

And next week another cake dream

Rummikub · 12/06/2023 21:00

I love the Lucia books, but that TV series was very much like watching a collection of am-dram plays somehow. Aspects of the books are 'wonderfully camp' but far more subtle than on TV.

Does anyone remember a children's cartoon series from the 1970s called Issy NoHo? I think it was about a panda that lived on someone's tree house. I don't remember it well and have never met anyone else who has seen it.

I remember Issy Noho. Was the panda found in a box with a label that had some of the letters ripped away, so all that was left was Issy Noho and that's what they called her?

ButtonSister · 13/06/2023 08:36

Does anyone remember Revelations? Early 90's, broadcast late at night, about a vicar and his family, one of those so good it's bad dramas.
