What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

Mapp and Lucia in the 1980s. I actually didn't like it much, except for Geraldine McEwan's delicious impression of a Morningside accent. It has been called 'wonderfully camp' which is what tried my patience. I watched the episodes with a kind of grim fascination, I thought at the time. And now I miss it. I don't know anyone who ever watched it or who has heard of EF Benson. I do see today that lots of the episodes are on Youtube, so...

This was a fabulous series! I loved it so much that I bought all the books, and have read them many times. There was a good revival a few years ago (BBC?), with Anna Chancellor as Lucia. Perfection.

Time40 · 04/06/2023 16:07

@CharlottenBurger I loved Mapp and Lucia (and the clothes were gorgeous). It was very true to the books, too.

excelledyourself · 04/06/2023 16:09

Greenclaws. We watched it in school, but no-one I ask everyone seems to remember it

Blake's Seven

( I have not watched any on your list OP but I like the look of it!)

Surely everyone of a certain age watched Blake’s Seven 😁 (and possibly made the teleport bracelet from blue Peter ahem)

tales of the gold monkey - as far as I can tell it must have been beamed privately & directly into my family TV has no one has ever heard of it

I love the Lucia books, but that TV series was very much like watching a collection of am-dram plays somehow. Aspects of the books are 'wonderfully camp' but far more subtle than on TV.

Does anyone remember a children's cartoon series from the 1970s called Issy NoHo? I think it was about a panda that lived on someone's tree house. I don't remember it well and have never met anyone else who has seen it.

treehousethunderstorm · 04/06/2023 16:11

Young Americans - it was a summer replacement for Dawsons Creek and teenage me may have gotten a little obsessed with it.

Marsyas · 04/06/2023 16:12

I remember Watoo Watoo.
The one that nobody else seems to have watched was a series about nurses, with Jessica Hynes in 1996/7. A Google tells me it was called Staying Alive. I remember that it had a supernatural element to it or at least a slight edge of horror, or was just weird in some way, but I can’t find any confirmation of this.

MaryJean87 · 04/06/2023 16:13

Can't remember the name. Either on Cbbc or Citv. It was a kids gameshow that featured a maze. And at the end there was a ventriloquist dummy and the voiceover said " who will be the dummy next time?" I've googled it loads of times over the years and still coming up blank. Did I imagine this?

YesYesAllGood · 04/06/2023 16:14

A slightly strange children's programme in early 90s called Breakfast Serials.

Also a series in late 90s/early 00s called Night and Day (I think???) about a girl who goes missing - a bit like Twin Peaks but not quite as odd as that!

catforthrashes · 04/06/2023 16:15

Penny Crayon
The Racoons

BreakfastClubs · 04/06/2023 16:17

Did anyone watch a game show called Steal? It had a cartoon cat dressed as a burglar?

Loved both of these!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 04/06/2023 16:18

If anyone else has heard of this, I will buy them a pint. It was daft but great. And I do have a soft spot for Bruce Greenwood even now.

Anyone remember Mulberry?

It was about a guy who's father was Death and his mother was Springtime. Was on the BBC. Love it!

cormorant5 · 04/06/2023 16:19

Not a series but a serial: Crime and gave a view from the criminals POV, but it came close to glorifying crime. BBC I think discontinued it before the last episode.
Criminal Lead character was called David? Hogg.
He had 3 'soldiers' one of them had big Afro hippie hair. but cut it to an almost normal style midway.
It was before Budgie.

BreakfastClubs · 04/06/2023 16:19

Also Rude Dog and The Dweebs?

Hairbrushhandle · 04/06/2023 16:19

You and me. It was a kids show that had these kind of puppet lion things, two of them.

Soubriquet · 04/06/2023 16:20

There are two children’s shows I vividly remember but I can’t remember their names

One was in CITV and I think it was called ghost catcher or something like that. It featured a Victorian shoe shine boy and a woman who tried to catch all the ghosts.

Another one I remember was on channel 5, and it had a mirror in it where two boys(?) would go through and there would be a girl from the older days in it. She would also come through the mirror at times too

I certainly watched Blake's Seven.

I can remember a series called Cover Up.

Anyone else remember that?

Fabulous! Was traumatised as a teen over Jon-Erik Hexum's death

FlamingoQueen · 04/06/2023 16:23

I’ve always remembered a programme that I think was called ‘Maelstrom’ although I could have spelt it wrongly. I think I remember a dolls house and it was quite creepy, but again, I’m not sure!
