What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

The Eagle of the Ninth, 1977 miniseries from Rosemary Sutcliff’s novel. Starred Anthony Higgins as Aquila.

Loved this, I have the box set and watch it every so often. Caleb was a sweetheart (until the last episode!).

I have that on DVD! Some of the best opening titles ever. Fraser and Vecchio! ❤️

Sleepers, a 1992 four-part Cold War satire, starred Nigel Havers and Warren Clarke. Finally available on DVD, so I don’t have to watch my bodgy transferred-from-tape copy anymore. Absolutely hilarious show. Ditto In the Red (Warren Clarke and Richard Griffiths) and Oliver’s Travels (Alan Bates and Sinéad Cusack).

I still remember that scene! Scared the bejesus out of me.

@miniegg3 Gomorra is one of my all time favourites. Went around shouting 'Tutt'a post?' at DH for a while after watching like a Camorra mobster.

It was all the rage when I was aged about 26 to 30. People of similar age used to greet each other with "Na-Nu Na-Nu".

American Horror Story is a big fave in our house. We have all the series and have watched most of them at least twice. Currently going through 'Cult' Paulson is great with two heads in 'Freak Show'.

Now Get Out Of That!! I had forgotten that one, it was brilliant!

I saw some of that - only episode I remember had a Kulthan, an alien obviously based on Anubis.

Thank you! I remembered his name coming from a fragment of the wording on the side of the crate but remembered the second bit as No Smoking, which doesn't work. It's been bugging me for years trying to work out what it actually was.

Was that a series where teams from Cambridge and Oxford were given a series of tasks. In the first one, they had to get a LandRover out of a muddy pond and were told it didn’t have any petrol in it. Turned out it was a diesal vehicle (or vice versa) and was full up. It was filmed at Leeds castle (on Kent) I believe.

I must have seen this because I remember him playing Van Morrison's Someone Like You on his show in one episode.

I have a Banana Splits T-shirt. It always starts conversations with people my age (late fifties), but a surprising number of much younger people comment on it's coolness (and I have never in my life been remotely cool).

I remember one episode when baby dealers kidnapped a diabetic newborn and the host saved the kid's life by putting out a call to his listeners

I remember Midnight Caller, although not in any detail. I seem to remember a pretty convincing late-night atmosphere. I still love late-night radio, come to think of it!

That sounds awesome. Just googled and some of it is on YouTube (maybe all, didn't look that closely). I'm tempted to give it a go.

Anyone remember the epic Channel 4 adaptation of the Maharabhata? Utterly nuts; lots of bad effects – gods floating up to sit in the lotus pose in a tree etc. It seemed to be on every Saturday (or Sunday?) morning for about fifteen years.

I have a horror of gambling, so watching Yudhisthira lose everything was pretty traumatic. I might have given up after that.
