What obscure tv shows do you remember watching, but no one else really watched or remembers it so you feel alone?

Soubriquet · 04/06/2023 15:47

I have a few. I used to love watching certain shows but no one I knew watched it. So it felt like I was the only one at times.

Hex
Dollhouse
Dark Angel
Roswell (the original not the newer one)
Firefly

I'm so happy that others remember Murder Most Horrid. I suspect that my memories won't live up to another viewing but I used to love it.

There was an early 80s comedy show on BBC2 after kids TV on BBC1 called Dear Heart about a teenage magazine... I thought it was really grown up but looking back was probably aimed at 12 to 14 year olds! It had a really catchy tune ..... "I am falling falling falling apart Dear Heart" and then 80s synth 😍

That has reminded me of "Agony" with Maureen Lipman.

ashamed1235 · 05/06/2023 16:02

My contribution: does anyone remember Dirtwater dynasty or dynasties. It was late 80s or early 90s; an Australian mini series - family saga. Think it starred Sam Neill and I bloody loved it.

No one else remembers it.

And there was a drama set in Australia called return to edan where the wife was pushed into a lake filled with crocodiles. She returned as herself as a model.

I remember that. Ridiculous but utterly compelling.

Does anyone remember a show called Grandad?

Yes with Clive Dunn!

Radi0liverpool · 05/06/2023 16:24

Yes! I listened to the theme tune just now. Inspired by this. It sounds like it says 'that's Grandad, charming prick' 🤣😂🤣

Anyone for The House of Elliott?

tommyshelbysbunnit · 05/06/2023 16:32

Anyone for The House of Elliott?

Oh yes the house of elliot was amazing! I wanted to be as glamorous as Evie.

Does anyone remember a kids program from probably the 70s, set in edwardian (?) times. It involved massive white dinosaur statues that some kids hid inside? Maybe? And might have involved time travel?

Also whirlygig? I think that was the name. A cartoon about a globe shaped thing with metal legs?

I do wonder if I've just dreamt these 🤔

Bloomsofbliss · 05/06/2023 16:45

Does anyone remember Bug Juice? It was a docuseries following the lives of a group of kids in an American summer camp...Bloody loved it and the theme tune 😂

Anyone for The House of Elliott?

Oh yes!

Loved that as well!

Duchess of Duke Street anyone?

Think I/we've strayed away from the obscure now though as I think both of those were popular weren't they?

Amispringy · 05/06/2023 16:54

I went through a Frank Skinner phase in the 90s

Packet of 3

Does anyone remember these?

I have skim read the thread and haven't seen these mentioned but apologies if I missed it.

1 - Barnaby the Bear - from the 70s when I was very small. I think it was French and dubbed. I have never met anyone else who remembers or has heard of it. I have a very strong memory of it. Picture below.

2 - The Red Hand Gang

Loved Barnaby!

No, scratch that. I’m thinking of Christabel, another obscure WW2 drama.

Not obscure, or at least, the book wasn't. The Past Is Myself by Christabel Bielenberg, about a British woman who married a German and spent WW2 in Germany.

@GarkandGookin

Does anyone remember a children's cartoon series from the 1970s called Issy NoHo? I think it was about a panda that lived on someone's tree house. I don't remember it well and have never met anyone else who has seen it.

Nerd moment: wasn’t it Issi NoHo because the name came from the words ‘ This side up, Use No Hooks’ on the side of the crate ?

And why have I remembered that all these years.

Such a creepy book and show! The film Paperhousw is based on the same story too and also pretty creepy.
